Quran 13:32 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
messengers were certainly mocked before you in the same way that you have been mocked — this is meant as solace for the Prophet s — but I gave respite to those who disbelieved; then I seized them with retribution and how was My retribution? that is to say it My retribution will come to pass; and I shall deal with those who have mocked you in the same way.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
Messengers sent before you O Muhammad were also bombarded with foul epithets. The infidels mocked them and gave them a lick with the rough side of their tongues, and called them everything they could lay their tongues to. But despite their wickedness, I put their punishment in respite, then I cast them down from a position of prosperity and power and brought them to ruin, and how unbearable was the retribution
Quran 13:32 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Comforting the Messenger of Allah ﷺ
Allah says to His Messenger, while comforting him in facing his people's denial of him,
`( And indeed (many ) Messengers were mocked at before you), so you have a good example in them,
( but I granted respite to those who disbelieved, ) deferred their judgment for a term appointed,
( and finally I punished them. ) with encompassing punishment.
How did you obtain the news of how I gave them respite and then took them with punishment' Allah said in another Ayah,
( And many a township did I give respite while it was given to wrongdoing.
Then (in the end ) I seized it ( with punishment ).
And to Me is the ( final ) return ( of all ).)22:48 It is recorded in the Two Sahihs that the Prophet said,
( Verily, Allah gives respite to the unjust until when He seizes him, He never lets go of him. ) The Messenger ﷺ next recited this Ayah,
( Such is the punishment of your Lord when He seizes the (population of ) towns while they are doing wrong.
Verily, His punishment is painful, ( and ) severe.)11:102

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
( And verily messengers (of Allah ) were mocked before thee) their people mocked them just as your people are mocking you, ( but long I bore with those who disbelieved ) but I gave respite to those who disbelieved. ( At length I seized them ) with chastisement, ( and how (awful ) was My punishment!) see how I upbraid them with chastisement.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
And indeed (many) Messengers were mocked at before you (O Muhammad SAW), but I granted respite to those who disbelieved, and finally I punished them. Then how (terrible) was My Punishment!
