Quran 14:37 Surah Ibrahim ayat 37 Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English
14:37 Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful.

Quran 14:37 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
Our Lord indeed I have made some of my seed that is Ishmael and his mother Hagar to dwell in a valley where there is no sown land namely Mecca by Your Sacred House which had been there since before the Flood our Lord that they may establish prayer. So make some of the hearts of men yearn incline and long towards them — Ibn ‘Abbās said ‘Had He said “Make all the hearts of men …” assuredly the Persians the Byzantines and all of mankind would have yearned towards them’. And provide them with fruits that they might be thankful and this petition was granted for the town of al-Tā’if was transferred to that land.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
O Allah, our Creator, I have made some of my progeny take abode in an uncultivated valley in the vicinity of your Sacrosanct House to engage O Allah in the act of worship. Let the hearts and souls of people, O Allah be moved toward them with tenderness and affection, and provide them with the fruits of the earth, they may hopefully be thankful
Quran 14:37 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
( by Your Sacred House... ) then he,
( O our Lord, that they may perform Salah. ) Ibn Jarir At-Tabari commented that this, "Refers to his earlier statement,
( the Sacred... )," meaning, `You have made this House Sacred so that people establish the prayer next to it,'
( So fill some hearts among men with love towards them, ) Ibn `Abbas, Mujahid and Sa'id bin Jubayr said, "Had Ibrahim said, `The hearts of mankind', Persians, Romans, the Jews, the Christians and all other people would have gathered around it." However, Ibrahim said,
( among men ), thus making it exclusive to Muslims only.
He said next,
( and (O Allah ) provide them with fruits) in order that they may be helped in obeying You, and because this is a barren valley; bring to them fruits that they might eat.
Allah accepted Ibrahim's supplication,
( Have We not established for them a secure sanctuary (Makkah ), to which are brought fruits of all kinds, a provision from Ourselves.) 28:57 This only indicates Allah's compassion, kindness, mercy and blessing, in that there are no fruit producing trees in the Sacred City, Makkah, yet all kinds of fruits are being brought to it from all around; this is how Allah accepted the supplication of the Khalil - Allah's intimate friend, Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him.
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(14:37) Lord! I have settled some of my descendants in a barren valley near Thy Sacred House. Lord! I have done this in the hope that they would establish Salat there. So turn the hearts of the people towards them, and provide fruits for their food *50 : it is expected that they will become grateful.
Our Lord, I have settled some of meaning
*50) Allah granted this prayer of Prophet Abraham.
That was why people from the whole of ' Arabia used to come there for Haj and `Umrah at the time of the revelation of this Surah, and now people gather there from all over the world.
Besides this, there is plenty of food and fruit in all-seasons of the year, though the valley is absolutely barren and no vegetation grows in it even for animals.

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
( Our Lord! ) O our Lord! ( Lo! I have settled some of my posterity ) Ishmael and his mother Hagar ( in an uncultivable valley ) in a valley with no vegetation or crops ( near unto Thy holy House ) i.e. Mecca, ( our Lord! ) O our Lord! ( that they may establish proper worship ) so that they perform the prayer faced towards the Ka’bah; ( so incline some hearts of men ) the hearts of some men ( that they may yearn towards them ) long and head towards them every year, ( and provide Thou them with fruits ) with different kinds of fruit ( in order that they may be thankful ) so that they are grateful for your blessings.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
"O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House (the Ka'bah at Makkah); in order, O our Lord, that they may perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), so fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allah) provide them with fruits so that they may give thanks.
