Quran 11:52 Surah Hud ayat 52 Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English
11:52 And O my people, ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in showers and increase you in strength [added] to your strength. And do not turn away, [being] criminals."

Quran 11:52 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
And O my people ask forgiveness of your Lord for your idolatry then turn return to Him repentant through obedience; He will release the sky He will release the rain — for they had been denied it — upon you in abundance with abundant rainfall and He will add to you strength to your strength through wealth and children. Do not turn away as sinners’ idolaters.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
My people, he added, invoke Allahs forgiveness and in lowliest plight stand to Him repentant of the way you conduct yourselves in life. He shall pour down upon you rain and blessings bringing you into a people of condition. He shall add to your strength to make you stronger in influence and authority, in security of position and in moral power for endurance and effort, in will, purpose and character , in actions and attributes, that you may have great controlling power over things by reason of the possession of authority, resources and inherent qualities. Do not counsel deaf nor lose yourselves in a maze, precipitating your crime
Quran 11:52 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
The Story of Prophet Hud and the People of `Ad
Allah, the Exalted, says,
و
( And ) This is an introductory to what is implied: "Verily, We sent."
إِلَى عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا
( to the `Ad (people ) their brother Hud.) Hud came to them commanding them to worship Allah alone, without any associates.
He forbade them from worshipping the idols which they made up, inventing names as gods.
He informed them that he did not want any reward from them for his sincere advising and conveying of Allah's Message.
He only sought his reward from Allah, the One Who created him.
أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ
( Will you not then understand ) Someone has come calling you to what will benefit your situation in this life and the Hereafter without asking for any wage ( from them ).
Then he commanded them to seek the forgiveness of the One Who is capable of expiating previous sins.
He also commanded them to repent for that which they may do in the future.
Whoever has these characteristics, Allah will make his sustenance easy for him, grant him ease in his affairs and guard over his situation.
For this reason Allah says,
يُرْسِلِ السَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِدْرَاراً
( He will send you (from the sky ) abundant rain,)
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(11:52) My people! Ask your Lord for forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance. He will shower abundant rains upon you from the heaven, and will add strength to your strength. *57 Do not turn away as those given to guilt.'
And O my people, ask forgiveness of meaning
*57).
This is a reiteration of what was said earlier, 'that you may seek forgiveness of your Lord and turn to Him in repentance whereupon He will grant you a fair enjoyment of life until an appointed term'.
( See verse 3 above. ) We learn from this that the rise and fall of a nation's fortunes depends on moral factors.
For God's rule over the world is based on moral rather than physical laws which are bereft of all distinction between good and evil.
The Qur'an has repeatedly mentioned that when a nation receives God's Message through a Prophet, the fate of that nation depends entirely on how it responds to it.
If that nation accepts the Message, God lavishes His bounties and blessings upon it.
However, if that nation spurns the Message, it is destroyed.
This is a provision of the moral law according to which God deals with human beings.
Another provision of this law is that any nation which, deluded by its worldly prosperity, has recourse to wrong-doing and sin, is doomed to destruction.
However, if the people in question while proceeding speedily towards their tragic end, realize their mistake, give up their disobedience of God and sincerely return to His worship and service, their evil end is averted and their term is extended.
Not only that but they are also judged to be deserving of reward instead of punishment, and God even ordains that they may attain well-being and ascendancy.

( And, O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord ) believe in Allah’s divine Oneness, ( then turn unto Him repentant ) then betake yourself to Him through repentance and sincerity; ( He will cause the sky to rain abundance on you ) whenever you need it ( and will add unto you strength to your strength ) by giving you wealth and offspring. ( Turn not away ) from faith and repentance, ( guilty! ) associating others with Allah.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
"And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him, He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain, and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah)."
