Surah Yunus ayat 61 Tafsir Quran 10:61

﴿وَمَا تَكُونُ فِي شَأْنٍ وَمَا تَتْلُو مِنْهُ مِن قُرْآنٍ وَلَا تَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا كُنَّا عَلَيْكُمْ شُهُودًا إِذْ تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَا يَعْزُبُ عَن رَّبِّكَ مِن مِّثْقَالِ ذَرَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَلَا أَصْغَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَا أَكْبَرَ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مُّبِينٍ﴾
[ يونس: 61]

10:61 And, [O Muhammad], you are not [engaged] in any matter or recite any of the Qur'an and you [people] do not do any deed except that We are witness over you when you are involved in it. And not absent from your Lord is any [part] of an atom's weight within the earth or within the heaven or [anything] smaller than that or greater but that it is in a clear register.

And you O Muhammad (s) are not occupied with any business any matter nor do you recite anything regarding it that is regarding such a matter — or it means nor do you recite anything from God by way of the Qur’ān which He has revealed to you nor do you perform any action God is addressing him and his community but We are witnesses watchers over you when you are engaged therein that is in the action. And not so much as the weight of an atom the weight of the smallest ant in the earth or in the heaven escapes is hidden from your Lord nor what is less than that or greater but it is in a clear a manifest Book namely the Preserved Tablet al-lawh al-mahfūz.

We do know that you -the Messenger- have delivered the divine message, no matter whether you are engaged in the affairs of mankind or in the ordinary pursuits of life or in any other concern, and no matter how little, or how much you recite of the Quran, and no matter what you people do or undo or accomplish but We are witnesses thereof. We experience it by personal observation as you busy yourselves for good or ill. Nor is there anything in an atoms weight on earth or in heaven that escapes your Creators knowledge nor lesser or larger in amount or degree but is recorded in a documentary book that furnishes evidence of facts and events

Everything Small or Large is within the Knowledge of Allah Allah informed His Prophet that He knows and is well acquainted with all of the affairs and conditions of him and his Ummah and all of creation and its creatures at all times -- during every hour and second.
Nothing slips or escapes from His knowledge and observation, not even anything the weight of a speck of dust within the heavens or earth, or anything that is smaller or larger than that.
Everything is in a manifest Book, as Allah said: وَعِندَهُ مَفَاتِحُ الْغَيْبِ لاَ يَعْلَمُهَآ إِلاَّ هُوَ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَمَا تَسْقُطُ مِن وَرَقَةٍ إِلاَّ يَعْلَمُهَا وَلاَ حَبَّةٍ فِى ظُلُمَـتِ الاٌّرْضِ وَلاَ رَطْبٍ وَلاَ يَابِسٍ إِلاَّ فِى كِتَـبٍ مُّبِينٍ ( And with Him are the keys of the Ghayb (all that is hidden and unseen ), none knows them but He.
And He knows whatever there is in the land and in the sea; not a leaf falls, but He knows it.
There is not a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry, but is written in a Clear Record.)( 6:59 ) He stated that He is Well-Aware of the movement of the trees and other inanimate objects.
He is also Well-Aware of all grazing beasts.
He said: وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ فِى الاٌّرْضِ وَلاَ طَائِرٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلاَّ أُمَمٌ أَمْثَـلُكُمْ ( There is not a moving creature on earth, nor a bird that flies with its two wings, but are communities like you. ) ( 6:38 ) He also said: وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ فِي الاٌّرْضِ إِلاَّ عَلَى اللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا ( And no moving creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah.
)( 11:6 ) If this is His knowledge of the movement of these things, then what about His knowledge of the movement of the creatures that are commanded to worship Him Allah said: وَتَوكَّلْ عَلَى الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ - الَّذِى يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى السَّـجِدِينَ ( And put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, Who sees you when you stand up, and your movements among those who fall prostrate. )( 26:217-219 ) That is why Allah said: وَمَا تَكُونُ فِى شَأْنٍ وَمَا تَتْلُواْ مِنْهُ مِن قُرْءَانٍ وَلاَ تَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ عَمَلٍ إِلاَّ كُنَّا عَلَيْكُمْ شُهُودًا إِذْ تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ ( Neither you do any deed nor recite any portion of the Qur'an, nor you do any deed, but We are Witness thereof when you are doing it. ) meaning, `We are watching and hearing you when you engage in that thing.' When Jibril asked the Prophet about Ihsan, he said:
«أَنْ تَعْبُدَ اللهَ كَأَنَّكَ تَرَاهُ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ تَرَاهُ فَإِنَّهُ يَرَاك»
( It is that you worship Allah as if you are seeing Him.
But since you do not see Him, be certain that He is watching you. )

(10:61) (O Prophet!) Whatever you may be engaged in, whether you recite any portion of the Qur'an, or whatever else all of you are doing, We are witnesses to whatever you may be occupied with. Not even an atom's weight escapes your Lord on the earth or in the heaven, nor is there anything smaller or bigger than that, except that it is on record in a Clear Book. *64

And, [O Muhammad], you are not [engaged] meaning

*64).
The purpose of the statement is to console the Prophet ( peace be on him ) and to warn his enemies.
On the one hand, the Prophet ( peace be on him ) is being reassured that the resoluteness, diligence and perseverance which characterize his efforts in preaching the truth and attempting to reform people is well known to God.
It can hardly be conceived that after entrusting to the Prophet ( peace be on him ) a perilous task that God would leave him alone, unassisted.
God knows full well all what the Prophet ( peace be on him ) does, and is also well aware of how others behave towards him.
At the same time what is being said also constitutes a warning to the Prophet's opponents.
If they obstruct the efforts of the Messenger of the truth, of one engaged in reforming mankind out of sincerity and goodwill, there is no reason for them to assume that no one is observing their deeds, or that they will never be called to account.
They ought to take heed for all their deeds are being duly recorded on the Divine Scroll.

( And thou art not ) O Muhammad ( occupied with any business ) any matter ( and thou recitest not ) on them ( a lecture from this (Scripture )) a surah or a verse, ( and ye (mankind ) perform no act) whether good or evil, ( but We are Witness ) but We have knowledge ( of you ) and of your matter, recitation and works ( when ye are engaged therein ) i.e. in the Qur’an and its denial. ( And not an atom’s weight ) of the servants’ works ( in the earth or in the sky escapeth ) is hidden from ( your Lord, nor what is less ) nor what is lighter ( than that or greater than that ) or heavier, ( but it is (written ) in a clear Book) but it is written in the Guarded Tablet.

Whatever you (O Muhammad SAW) may be doing, and whatever portion you may be reciting from the Quran, - and whatever deed you (mankind) may be doing (good or evil), We are Witness thereof, when you are doing it. And nothing is hidden from your Lord (so much as) the weight of an atom (or small ant) on the earth or in the heaven. Not what is less than that or what is greater than that but is (written) in a Clear Record. (Tafsir At-Tabari. Vol. 11, Page 129).
