Surah Al Isra ayat 74 Tafsir Quran 17:74

﴿وَلَوْلَا أَن ثَبَّتْنَاكَ لَقَدْ كِدتَّ تَرْكَنُ إِلَيْهِمْ شَيْئًا قَلِيلًا﴾
[ الإسراء: 74]

17:74 And if We had not strengthened you, you would have almost inclined to them a little.

And if We had not made you stand firm upon the Truth by way of divine protection ‘isma certainly you might have you nearly inclined to them a little because of the extent of their deception and their persistence. This statement is explicit about the fact that the Prophet s neither inclined nor came close to doing so.

Had We not confirmed you and influenced your heart and mind and impelled to the feeling of authority and security of position you would have gone along with them up to a point, thinking that with making a small concession you would succeed in fulfilling the divine mission

Verily, they were about to tempt you away from that which We have revealed to you, to fabricate something other than it against Us, and then they would certainly have taken you as an intimate frien ( 73 )And had We not made you stand firm, you would nearly have inclined to them a little ( 74 )In that case We would have made you taste a double portion in this life and a double portion after death.
And then you would have found none to help you against Us ( 75 ) How the Prophet ( ﷺ ) would have been punished if He had given in at all to the Disbelievers' Demands that He change some of the Revelation Allah tells us how He supported His Prophet ﷺ and protected him and kept him safe from the evil plots of the wicked transgressors.
Allah is the One Who took care of him and helped him, and would not leave him to any of His creation.
He is the One Who is His Helper, Supporter and Protector, the One Who is to help him achieve victory and make His religion prevail over those who resist him and oppose him and fight him in the east and in the west.
May Allah send peace and blessings upon him until the Day of Judgement.

( And if We had not made thee wholly firm ) if We had not protected and preserved you ( thou mightest almost have inclined unto them a little ) regarding that which they requested from you.

And had We not made you stand firm, you would nearly have inclined to them a little.
