Surah Assaaffat ayat 77 Tafsir Quran 37:77

﴿وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ﴾
[ الصافات: 77]

37:77 And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]

and made his descendants the survivors thus all human beings are descended from him peace be upon him. He had three sons Shem Sām the ancestor of the Arabs the Persians and the Byzantines; Ham Hām the ancestor of the Negroes; and Japheth Yāfith the ancestor of the Turks the Khazar and the peoples of Gog and Magog and the inhabitants of such regions.

And We destined his posterity to be the survivors who inhabit the earth

(37:77) and made his offspring the only ones to survive, *42

And We made his descendants those remaining meaning

*42) This can have two meanings: ( 1 ) That the progeny of the people who were opposing the Prophet Noah was made extinct and the Prophet Noah's progeny alone was allowed to survive; and ( 2 ) that the whole human race was made extinct, and only the Prophet Noah's progeny was allowed to inhabit the earth after that.
The commentators generally have adopted this second meaning, but the words of the Qur'an are not explicit in this regard and no one knows the reality except Allah.

 

( And made his seed the survivors ) until the Day of Judgement. Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Yapheth. Shem is the father of the Arabs and those people surrounding them; Ham is the father the Abyssinians, Berbers and inhabitants of Sind; and Yapheth is the father of the rest of people,

And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth).
