Quran 15:8 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn

God exalted be He says The angels do not descend tanazzalu one of the two tā’ letters of tatanazzalu has been omitted save with the truth with the chastisement; and then that is upon the descent of the angels with the chastisement they the disbelievers would not be reprieved would not be granted respite.

Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim

They do not realize that We do not send down the angels to satisfy a curiosity. We only send them down for a valid reason and a just cause -to execute Allahs decrees-, and if We do send them down, the infidels shall be annihilated on the spot and no hope shall there be for respite

Quran 15:8 Tafsir Ibn Kathir

The Accusation that the Prophet was a Madman and Demands for Him to bring down Angels Allah tells us about the disbelief, arrogance and stubbornness of the disbelievers as reflected in their words: يأَيُّهَا الَّذِى نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ ( O you (Muhammad ) to whom the Dhikr ( the Qur'an ) has been revealed!) i.e., the one who claims to receive it. إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ ( Verily, you are a mad man! ) i.e., by your invitation to us to follow you and leave the way of our forefathers. لَّوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِالْمَلَـئِكَةِ ( Why do you not bring angels to us ) i.e., to bear witness to the accuracy of what you have brought to us is true, if you are really telling the truth This is similar to what Pharaoh said: فَلَوْلاَ أُلْقِىَ عَلَيْهِ أَسْوِرَةٌ مِّن ذَهَبٍ أَوْ جَآءَ مَعَهُ الْمَلَـئِكَةُ مُقْتَرِنِينَ ( Why then are not golden bracelets bestowed on him, or angels sent along with him )( 43:53 ).
And Allah said: وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لاَ يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا لَوْلاَ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَلَـئِكَةُ أَوْ نَرَى رَبَّنَا لَقَدِ اسْتَكْبَرُواْ فِى أَنفُسِهِمْ وَعَتَوْا عُتُوّاً كَبِيراً - يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ الْمَلَـئِكَةَ لاَ بُشْرَى يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ وَيَقُولُونَ حِجْراً مَّحْجُوراً ( And those who do not expect a meeting with Us (i.
e., those who deny the Day of Resurrection and the life of the Hereafter )
, say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord" Indeed they think too highly of themselves, and are scornful with great pride.
On the Day that they do see the angels - there will be no good news given on that day to the guilty.
And they ( angels ) will say: "All kinds of glad tidings are forbidden for you.") ( 25:21-22 ) For this reason Allah said: مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلَـئِكَةَ إِلاَّ بِالحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُواْ إِذًا مُّنظَرِينَ ( We do not send the angels down except with the truth, and in that case, they (the disbelievers ) would have no respite!) Mujahid said in this Ayah: مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلَـئِكَةَ إِلاَّ بِالحَقِّ ( We do not send the angels down except with the truth ) "i.e., with the Message and the punishment." Then Allah, may He be exalted, stated that He is the One Who revealed the Dhikr to him, which is the Qur'an, and He is protecting it from being changed or altered.

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(15:8) We do not send down angels in this way. When they come down, *4 they come down with truth, and then the people are not given respite. *5

We do not send down the angels meaning

*4) This was a sarcastic remark that was made by the opponents, for they did not acknowledge that the " Admonition " had been sent down to the Holy Prophet: otherwise they could not say that he was " insane ".
What they really meant by this remark was: " You, who claim that the "Admonition" has been sent down to you, are insane ".
A similar remark was also made by Pharaoh concerning Prophet Moses.
Addressing his courtiers, he said, " The Messenger who has been sent to you is insane ".
( XXVI: 27 )
*5) " We do not send down the angels in this way ": We do not send down the angels for the mere fun of it in response to the request of the people: nor are they sent to unveil the Reality before them in order to show to them all the " unseen " things to which the Messengers invite them to believe.
As a matter of fact, angels are sent down on that occasion when it is decreed to pass judgment on sane wicked people.
At that time the judgment comes into operation without extending.
any invitation to the condemned people to accept the Message, for their period of respite ends as soon as the " Reality " is unveiled before them.

" ......they come down with truth ": " ......they bring down truth with them " .
That is they come down to eradicate falsehood and to establish truth in its stead.
Or, in other words, it means, .....they come down to put into force the judgment of Allah".

Tafsir Maarif-ul-Quran Mufti Muhammad Shafi

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

Allah said: ( We send not down the angels ) from heaven ( save with the Fact ) with destruction or for taking their souls away, ( and that case (the disbelievers ) would not be tolerated) they would not be given any respite when the angels come down to them.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

We send not the angels down except with the truth (i.e. for torment, etc.), and in that case, they (the disbelievers) would have no respite!
