They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will (7:115)

﴿قَالُوا يَا مُوسَىٰ إِمَّا أَن تُلْقِيَ وَإِمَّا أَن نَّكُونَ نَحْنُ الْمُلْقِينَ﴾
[ الأعراف: 115]

7:115 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]."

Due to their pride, they were certain that they would win against Moses.
They asked him: 'Choose O Moses if you want to be the first to throw, or if you want us to throw first.
'

They said: "O Musa (Moses)! Either you throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?"

phonetic Transliteration

Qaloo ya moosa imma an tulqiya waimma an nakoona nahnu almulqeena

Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation

They said: "O Moses! wilt thou throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?"

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

They said: "O Musa! Either you throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw"
