surah Ad Dukhaan aya 32 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ﴾
[ الدخان: 32]
44:32 And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds.
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishAnd verily I selected the Israelites knowingly over the people of their time, because of their many Prophets.

And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge,

Walaqadi ikhtarnahum AAala AAilmin AAala alAAalameena

And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly,
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
And We chose them above the nations (Al-`Alamin) with knowledge,
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".

Such prerogative as We confined to Bani-Israel was based on Our knowledge of who best deserved, among all people of the time, to be the recipient of Our mercy and blessings

(44:32) We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world *28

*28) That is, 'Allah was well aware both of the qualities and of the weaknesses of the children of Israel. He had not chosen them blindly. For when he chose them from among the contemporary nations to become the standard-bearers of His message and His Tauhid, they werc the most suitable people in His knowledge for the purpose."
