﴿۞ وَيَا قَوْمِ مَا لِي أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى النَّجَاةِ وَتَدْعُونَنِي إِلَى النَّارِ﴾
[ غافر: 41]
40:41 And O my people, how is it that I invite you to salvation while you invite me to the Fire?
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishO people, why is it that I call you towards salvation from loss in the worldly life and the Hereafter by bringing faith in Allah and good actions, but you call me to enter the fire by asking me to disbelieve in Allah and disobey Him?

"And O my people! How is it that I call you to salvation while you call me to the Fire!

Waya qawmi ma lee adAAookum ila alnnajati watadAAoonanee ila alnnari
Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
"And O my people! How (strange) it is for me to call you to Salvation while ye call me to the Fire!
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
"And O my people! How is it that I call you to salvation while you call me to the Fire!"
