﴿وَلَا تَطْرُدِ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ ۖ مَا عَلَيْكَ مِنْ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَيْءٍ وَمَا مِنْ حِسَابِكَ عَلَيْهِم مِّن شَيْءٍ فَتَطْرُدَهُمْ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ﴾
[ الأنعام: 52]

English - Sahih International

6:52 And do not send away those who call upon their Lord morning and afternoon, seeking His countenance. Not upon you is anything of their account and not upon them is anything of your account. So were you to send them away, you would [then] be of the wrongdoers.

Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English
Abridged Explanation of the Quran

O Messenger, do not remove from your gathering those poor Muslims who sincerely worship Allah in the beginning and at the end of the day.
Do not chase them away in order to win favour with the leaders of the idolaters.
You are in no way accountable for these poor people.
It is only Allah Who will take them to account.
They, too, are in no way accountable for you.
If you drive them away from your gathering, you will be of those who overstep Allah’s limits.


Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

And turn not away those who invoke their Lord, morning and afternoon seeking His Face. You are accountable for them in nothing, and they are accountable for you in nothing, that you may turn them away, and thus become of the Zalimun (unjust).

Wala tatrudi allatheena yadAAoona rabbahum bialghadati waalAAashiyyi yureedoona wajhahu ma AAalayka min hisabihim min shayin wama min hisabika AAalayhim min shayin fatatrudahum fatakoona mina alththalimeena

Send not away those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His face. In naught art thou accountable for them, and in naught are they accountable for thee, that thou shouldst turn them away, and thus be (one) of the unjust.


Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri


And turn not away those who invoke their Lord, morning and evening seeking His Face. You are accountable for them in nothing, and they are accountable for you in nothing, that you may turn them away, and thus become of the wrongdoers.

Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim

And do not oblige the rich infidels who suffer from inordinate self-esteem, by dismissing those who are humble in rank or station before they listen to your discourse on Islam. Poor as they are, they uplift their hands and their inward sight to Allah in their devotional exercise morning and evening seeking only the illumination proceeding from Him, featured in the language spoken by His countenance. You are not accountable O Muhammad to Allah for their deeds or actions, nor are they accountable to Allah for your deeds or actions to induce you to dismiss them and be wrongful of action


Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(6:52) And do not drive away those who invoke their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His pleasure all the time. *34 You are by no means accountable for them just as they are by no means accountable for you. If you still drive them away, you will become among the wrong-doers. *35

One of the objections raised by the chiefs and the affluent members of the Quraysh was that the Prophet (peace be on him) had gathered around him a host of slaves, clients (mawali) and others belonging to the lower strata of society. They used to scoff at the fact that men of such humble social standing as Bilal, 'Ammar. Suhayb and Khabbab had joined his ranks. They wondered if they happened to be the only chosen ones of the Quraysh in the sight of God! They not only poked fun at the financial distress of these people but also attacked them for any weakness of character they had before accepting Islam. They went about saying sarcastically that those who had been such and such in the past had now become part of the 'chosen' community.
*35). That is, everyone is personally responsible for his deeds, whether good or bad. The Prophet (peace he on him) is told that he will neither have to explain to God the conduct of the converts nor will the latter be required to explain his conduct. They can neither usurp his good deeds, nor transfer their own misdeeds to his account. There is, therefore, no reason for the Prophet (peace be on him) to alienate those who approach him as seekers after Truth.

اور جو لوگ اپنے رب کو رات دن پکارتے رہتے ہیں او ر اس کی خوشنودی کی طلب میں لگے ہوئے ہیں انہیں اپنے سے دور نہ پھینکو اُن کے حساب میں سے کسی چیز کا بار تم پر نہیں ہے اور تمہارے حساب میں سے کسی چیز کا بار اُن پر نہیں اس پر بھی اگر تم انہیں دور پھینکو گے تو ظالموں میں شمار ہو گے
