﴿وَاتَّبِعُوا أَحْسَنَ مَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ الْعَذَابُ بَغْتَةً وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَشْعُرُونَ﴾
[ الزمر: 55]

39:55 And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive,

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

Follow the Qur’ān, which is the best of what your Lord has revealed to His Messenger.
Act on its instructions and avoid its prohibitions, before the punishment comes to you suddenly while you are unaware of it so as to prepare for it by repentance.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

"And follow the best of that which is sent down to you from your Lord (i.e. this Quran, do what it orders you to do and keep away from what it forbids), before the torment comes on you suddenly while you perceive not!"

WaittabiAAoo ahsana ma onzila ilaykum min rabbikum min qabli an yatiyakumu alAAathabu baghtatan waantum la tashAAuroona

"And follow the best of (the courses) revealed to you from your Lord, before the Penalty comes on you - of a sudden while ye perceive not!-

*72) "To follow the best aspect of the Book of Allah" means that one should carry out the Commands Allah has given and refrain from what He has forbidden, and learn lessons from what He has brought out in the parables and narratives. As against this, the one who turns away from Allah's Commands, indulges in the forbidden things, and dces not heed His admonitions, follows the worst aspect of the Book of AIlah, i.e. that aspect which the Divine Book has declared as the most evil.
