﴿مَّن يُطِعِ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ ۖ وَمَن تَوَلَّىٰ فَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا﴾
[ النساء: 80]

4:80 He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian.

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

Whoever follows the Messenger by fulfilling his instructions and avoiding his prohibitions has actually followed Allah.
If anyone turns away from following you, O Messenger, do not feel sad about it, because I have not sent you as a guard to watch over what they do.
I am the One Who will watch them and hold them to account for their actions.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

He who obeys the Messenger (Muhammad SAW), has indeed obeyed Allah, but he who turns away, then we have not sent you (O Muhammad SAW) as a watcher over them.

He who obeys the Messenger, obeys Allah: But if any turn away, We have not sent thee to watch over their (evil deeds).

*110). Such people are responsible for their own conduct. It is they rather than the Prophet (peace be on him) who will be censured. The task entrusted to the Prophet (peace be on him) was merely to communicate to them the ordinances and directives of God and he acquitted himself of it very well. It was not his duty to compel them to follow the right way, so that if they failed to follow the teachings communicated to them by the Prophet (peace be on him) the responsibility was entirely theirs. The Prophet (peace be on him) would not be questioned as to why they disobeyed.
