surah Anbiya aya 87 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
21:87 And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishO Messenger! Also mention the story of the Companion of the Whale: Jonah ( peace be upon him ), when he went away without the permission of his Lord, angry with his people for their insistence on sin.
He thought I would not constrain him by punishing him for his hurrying away; and so he was afflicted with a severe form of constraint and imprisonment when the Whale swallowed him.
He then called out in the darknesses of the belly of the Whale, the ocean and the night, acknowledging his error and repenting to Allah for it, saying, “There is no true deity except You, You are glorified of all faults and sanctified.
Indeed, I was one of the wrongdoers.
”
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
And (remember) Dhan-Nun (Jonah), when he went off in anger, and imagined that We shall not punish him (i.e. the calamites which had befallen him)! But he cried through the darkness (saying): La ilaha illa Anta [none has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allah)], Glorified (and Exalted) are You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers."

And Zun-nun -Yunus-, who met the opposition of the people to whom he was sent with impatience. Moved by anger he renounced them and left them thinking that We would not reprove him for such a behaviour. -He went on board ship and in the crossing it was decided by the crew that he was one too many and must be got rid of-. In the sea he was swallowed by the fish wherein he was constrained. In the depth of darkness he called on Allah and invoked His mercy, he said: O Allah, there is no Ilah but You, glory be to You and extolled are Your glorious attributes. I have been rongful of actions
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(21:87) And We showed a favour to Zun-nun *82 Remember when he went away in anger *83 for he thought that We would not take him to task for this. *84 But afterwards he invoked Us from the depths of darkness, *85 saying, "There is no God but Thou: glory be to Thee: I had indeed committed a wrong".
And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in meaning
*82) That is, Jonah. Literally Zun-Nun means `the man of the fish". He was called so because he was devoured by a fish by the Command of AIIah. (Also See XXXV11:142 and X:98 and its E.N.'s 98-100).
*83) Prophet Jonah left his people before he received Allah's Command for migration.
*84) He presumed that he should leave, the place which was going to be visited by the scourge of Allah. This was not by itself an offence but it was an offence for a Prophet to leave the place of his Mission without the permission of Allah.
*85) "....darkness": the darkness in the belly of the fish and the darkness of the sea over and above it.
