6:12 Say, "To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth?" Say, "To Allah." He has decreed upon Himself mercy. He will surely assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. Those who will lose themselves [that Day] do not believe.
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishSay to them, O Messenger, ‘To whom does dominion of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them, belong?’ Say: Their total control belongs to Allah.
He has established mercy upon Himself out of grace for His servants, and will therefore not rush to punish them.
If they do not repent, He will gather them together on the Day of Rising, a day about which there is no doubt.
Those who have lost their souls by bringing them to the point of destruction, due to their disbelief in Allah, will not believe and rescue their souls from loss.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "To whom belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth?" Say: "To Allah. He has prescribed Mercy for Himself. Indeed He will gather you together on the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. 6:12 Say, "To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth?" Say, translate in arabic
Ask them: To whom do you think the universe belongs! and say to them: Rest assured that all things including the earth and the Heavens and all that is in them, constituting a systematic whole, belong to Allah alone, Who ascribed mercy unto Himself to give people a chance to repent before the undoubted Day of Resurrection when He shall gather you all to His August Presence. There and then shall the infidels who denied Him realize that they were born to be great losers
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(6:12) Ask thern: 'To whom belongs all that is in the heavens and on the earth?' *9 Say: 'Everything belongs to Allah.' He has bound Himself to the exercise of mercy (and thus does not chastise you for your disobedience and excesses instantly). Surely He will gather you all together on the Day of Resurrection - the coming of which is beyond doubt; but those who have courted their own ruin are not going to believe.
Say, "To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth?" Say, meaning
*9). The subtlety of this expression should not go unnoticed. The unbelievers are asked to whom belongs whatever exists in either the heavens or on the earth. The inquirer then pauses to wait for the answer. Those questioned are themselves convinced that all belongs to God, yet while they dare not respond falsely, they are nevertheless not prepared to give the correct answer. Fearing that their response may be used as an argument against their polytheistic beliefs, they keep quiet. At this, the inquirer is told to answer the question himself and to say that all belongs to God.
Say, "To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth?" Say, meaning in Urdu
