surah Araf aya 140 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿قَالَ أَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ أَبْغِيكُمْ إِلَٰهًا وَهُوَ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ﴾
[ الأعراف: 140]
7:140 He said, "Is it other than Allah I should desire for you as a god while He has preferred you over the worlds?"
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishMoses said: 'How can I seek for you a god other than the one true God for you to worship, when you have already seen His great signs, and when He has preferred you over all the nations of your time, granting you the destruction of your enemy, and making you leaders in the land and establishing you in it?'
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
He said: "Shall I seek for you an Ilahan (a God) other than Allah, while He has given you superiority over the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns of your time)."
phonetic Transliteration
Qala aghayra Allahi abgheekum ilahan wahuwa faddalakum AAala alAAalameena
Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
He said: "Shall I seek for you a god other than the (true) Allah, when it is Allah Who hath endowed you with gifts above the nations?"
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
He said: "Shall I seek for you an ilah (a god) other than Allah, while He has given you superiority over the nations."
