surah Mulk aya 18 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ﴾
[ الملك: 18]
67:18 And already had those before them denied, and how [terrible] was My reproach.
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishVerily, the nations that came before these idolaters rejected, and so the punishment of Allah descended upon them after they insisted in their disbelief and rejection, so how was My disavowal of them? Verily, it was a severe disavowal.

And indeed those before them belied (the Messengers of Allah), then how terrible was My denial (punishment)?

Walaqad kaththaba allatheena min qablihim fakayfa kana nakeeri
Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
But indeed men before them rejected (My warning): then how (terrible) was My rejection (of them)?

And indeed those before them rejected, then how terrible was My reproach
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".

People before them O Muhammad, and those of the distant past, had refused to listen to Our warning, and how justly did I condemn them, and how dreadful was the condign punishment

(67:18) Those who came before them also gave the lie (to the Messengers): then how awesome was My chastisement! *28

*28) The allusion is to the communities who had belied the Messengers, who had come to them previously and consequently been afflicted with Divine punishment.
