English - Sahih International

26:49 [Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."

Quran 26:49 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn

Pharaoh said ‘Do you believe a-āmantum read pronouncing both hamzas or replacing the second one with an alif him Moses though I have not given you leave? He is indeed your chief the one who has taught you sorcery — so that he only taught you some tricks and then surpassed you with others. Soon you will know what I will do with you! I will assuredly cut off your hands and legs on opposite sides — in other words the right hand of each one together with his left leg — then I shall surely crucify you all.’

Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim

And here said Pharaoh to them: Have you yielded to his claims and surrendered yourselves to his Ilah without my permission! This is indeed, he added, a deceitful plan designed by your master who taught you magic and you shall bear the consequences and soon come to know how heavily you shall pay for this! I will amputate your hands and your feet on opposite sides and I will have you all crucified

Quran 26:49 Tafsir Ibn Kathir

Between Fir`awn and the Sorcerers His threats against them resulted only in an increase in their faith and submission to Allah, for the veil of disbelief had been lifted from their hearts and the truth became clear to them because they knew something that their people did not: that what Musa had done could not have been done by any human being unless Allah helped him, making it proof and an evidence of the truth of what he had brought from his Lord.
Then Fir`awn said to them: ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ( You have believed in him before I give you leave. ) meaning, `you should have asked my permission for what you did, and you did not consult with me; if I had given you permission you could have done it, and if I did not allow you, you should not have done it, for I am the ruler and the one to be obeyed.' إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ ( Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! ) This is stubborn talk, and anyone can see that it is nonsense, for they had never met Musa before that day, so how could he have been their chief who taught them how to do magic No rational person would say this.
Then Fir`awn threatened to cut off their hands and feet, and crucify them.
They said: لاَ ضَيْرَ ( No harm! ) meaning, `no problem, that will not harm us and we do not care.' إِنَّآ إِلَى رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ ( Surely, to our Lord we are to return. ) means, `the return of us all is to Allah, may He be glorified, and He will never allow the reward of anyone who has done good to be lost.
What you have done to us is not hidden from Him, and He will reward us in full for that.' So they said: إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـيَـنَآ ( Verily, we really hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, ) `the sins we have committed and the magic you forced us to do.' أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( as we are the first of the believers, ) means, because we are the first of our people, the Egyptians, to believe.
So he killed them all.

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(26:49) Pharaoh said, "You have believed in Moses even before I should have permitted you ! He must be your chief who has taught you magic *38 Well, you shall soon come to know: 1 shall have your hands and feet cut off on opposite sides and shall crucify you all" *39

[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I meaning

*38) This only shows the extreme obstinacy and obduracy of Pharaoh, who even after witnessing a clear miracle and the testimony of the magicians on it, was still insisting that it was magic.
But according to Al-A`raf: 123, Pharaoh said, " Indeed it was a plot you conspired in the capital to deprive the rightful owners of their power. " Thus he tried to make the people believe that the magicians had yielded to Moses not because of the miracle but due to a conspiracy with Moses before they entered the contest, so that they might seize political power and enjoy its fruits together.

*39) This horrible threat was held out by Pharaoh to justify his thinking that the magicians had entered a conspiracy with Moses.
He thought that the magicians, in order to save their lives, would confess the plot and thus the effect produced by their falling prostrate and believing in Moses in front of thousands of spectators would be gone.

Tafsir Maarif-ul-Quran Mufti Muhammad Shafi

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

( Pharaoh ) said, You put your faith in him) you believed in him ( before I give you leave ) I commanded you to do so. ( Lo! He ) i.e. Moses ( doubtless is your chief ) your master wizard ( who taught you magic! But verily ye shall come to know ) what I will do to you. ( Verily I will cut off your hands and your feet alternately ) the right hand with the left leg, ( and verily I will crucify you everyone ) on the bank of the river of Egypt.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "You have believed in him before I give you leave. Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! So verily, you shall come to know. Verily, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all."
