Quran 11:66 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
So when Our command came for their destruction We delivered Sālih and those who believed with him they numbered 4000 by a mercy from Us and We delivered them from the ignominy of that day read yawmi’idhin if understood as declinable or read yawma’idhin on the basis of it yawm ‘day’ being annexed to an invariable idhin ‘that’ which is the majority view. Truly your Lord is the Strong the Mighty the Victor.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
When Our command came to pass, We rescued Saleh and those who gave credence to his mission and acknowledged Allahs message, an act of mercy vouchsafed by us to save them from the shame and the multiplied humiliations incurred on that Momentous Day. Allah, your Creator is indeed AL-Qawiy(the Omnipotent) and AL- Aziz Who prevails against the whole and all in all

The Conversation between Salih and the People of Thamud
Allah, the Exalted, mentions what transpired in the discussion between Salih and his people.
Allah informs of their ignorance and obstinacy in their statement,

The folk traditions of the Sinaitic Peninsula indicate that when a severe punishment afflicted the Thamud, Salih ( peace be on him ) migrated to Sinai.
Hence, close to the Mount of Moses there is a hillock called Nabi Salih.
These traditions make one believe that it is here that Prophet Salih ( peace be on him ) lived.

( So, when Our commandment ) Our chastisement ( came to pass, We saved Salih, and those who believed with him, by a mercy from Us ) by Our grace, ( from the ignominy of that day ) from the chastisement of that day. ( Lo, thy Lord! He is the Strong ) He saves His allies, ( the Mighty ) in His retribution against His enemies.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
So when Our Commandment came, We saved Salih (Saleh) and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us, and from the disgrace of that Day. Verily, your Lord, He is the All-Strong, the All-Mighty.
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".
