[ يس: 42]

36:42 And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride.

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

A sign for them of Allah’s Oneness and His favour to His servants is that I created for them, like the ship of Noah, conveyances and some types of animals on which they can travel long distances.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride.

Wakhalaqna lahum min mithlihi ma yarkaboona

And We have created for them similar (vessels) on which they ride.

*39) This indicates that the first vessel ever to be made in the world was the one made by the Prophet Noah. Before that time man did not know any method of crossing the rivers and the seas. This method was first of all taught by Allah to the Prophet Noah, and when some servants, of Allah were rescued in it from the Flood, their future generations started making boats and ships for their sea journeys.
