surah Nisa aya 48 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَىٰ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا﴾
[ النساء: 48]
4:48 Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin.
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishAllah does not forgive that anything from His creation should be associated to Him.
Besides this and disbelief, He pardons the disobedience of whomever He wills, out of His bounty.
Or He punishes those He wills among them according to their disobedience, out of His perfect justice.
Whoever worships others next to Allah has committed a terrible sin, which is not forgiven if someone dies still doing it.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed.
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that to whom He wills; and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin.

(4:48) Surely Allah does not forgive that a partner be ascribed to Him, *79 although He forgives any other sins for whomever He wills. *80 He who associates anyone with Allah in His divinity has indeed forged a mighty lie and committed an awesome sin.

*80). The purpose of this verse is not to tell man that he may commit any sin as long as he does not associate others with God in His divinity. The object is rather to impress upon those who had begun to regard polytheism as a trivial matter that it constitutes the most serious offence in God's sight, an offence so serious that while other sins may be pardoned this will not. Jewish religious scholars were meticulous about questions of subsidiary importance, and devoted all their time to pondering over legal subtleties which their jurists had painstakingly elaborated by far-fetched deductions. Yet they treated polytheism so lightly that they neither abstained from it themselves nor tried to prevent their people from falling a prey to polytheistic ideas and practices nor found anything objectionable in establishing cordial relations with the polytheists nor in supporting them.
