surah Yusuf aya 97 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا اسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا خَاطِئِينَ﴾
[ يوسف: 97]
12:97 They said, "O our father, ask for us forgiveness of our sins; indeed, we have been sinners."
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishThe sons apologised to their father Jacob ( peace be upon him ) for what they had done to Joseph and his brother, and they asked their father to ask Allah to forgive the sins they had committed in the past, saying that they had been sinners and wrongdoers in what they did to Joseph and his full brother.

They said: "O our father! Ask forgiveness (from Allah) for our sins, indeed we have been sinners."

Qaloo ya abana istaghfir lana thunoobana inna kunna khatieena
Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
They said: "O our father! ask for us forgiveness for our sins, for we were truly at fault."
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
They said: "O our father! Ask forgiveness (from Allah) for our sins, indeed we have been sinners."
