﴿وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا إِلَىٰ مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ وَإِلَى الرَّسُولِ قَالُوا حَسْبُنَا مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا ۚ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ آبَاؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ شَيْئًا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ﴾
[ المائدة: 104]

5:104 And when it is said to them, "Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Messenger," they say, "Sufficient for us is that upon which we found our fathers." Even though their fathers knew nothing, nor were they guided?

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

When it is said to these people who make up lies about Allah, with respect to forbidding certain livestock: Come towards the Qur’ān that Allah revealed and to the path of the Messenger ( peace be upon him ), so that you can learn the lawful and the unlawful – they say: The beliefs, statements and actions we have taken and inherited from our predecessors is enough for us.
How could this be enough for them when their predecessors did not know anything and were not guided to the truth? Only the person who is more ignorant and misguided than them follows them.

And when it is said to them: "Come to what Allah has revealed and unto the Messenger (Muhammad SAW for the verdict of that which you have made unlawful)." They say: "Enough for us is that which we found our fathers following," even though their fathers had no knowledge whatsoever and no guidance.

Waitha qeela lahum taAAalaw ila ma anzala Allahu waila alrrasooli qaloo hasbuna ma wajadna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana abaohum la yaAAlamoona shayan wala yahtadoona

When it is said to them: "Come to what Allah hath revealed; come to the Messenger": They say: "Enough for us are the ways we found our fathers following." what! even though their fathers were void of knowledge and guidance?

They say: We are quite satisfied with the particular system of faith and worship our fathers were bent on. But how will it be if their fathers had lacked the soundness of judgement and had missed the path of righteousness

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ آؤ اُس قانون کی طرف جو اللہ نے نازل کیا ہے اور آؤ پیغمبرؐ کی طرف تو وہ جواب دیتے ہیں کہ ہمارے لیے تو بس وہی طریقہ کافی ہے جس پر ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے کیا یہ باپ دادا ہی کی تقلید کیے چلے جائیں گے خواہ وہ کچھ نہ جانتے ہوں اور صحیح راستہ کی انہیں خبر ہی نہ ہو؟
