﴿وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْهُدَىٰ وَأَوْرَثْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الْكِتَابَ﴾
[ غافر: 53]

40:53 And We had certainly given Moses guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

And I granted Moses miracles and knowledge through which the Israelites would be guided to the truth, and I made the Torah an inherited book amongst the Children of Israel, each generation would pass on it on to the other.

And, indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture [i.e. the Taurat (Torah)],

Walaqad atayna moosa alhuda waawrathna banee israeela alkitaba

(40:53) We surely guided Moses *69 and made the Children of Israel the heirs of the Book

And We had certainly given Moses guidance, and We caused the Children meaning

*69) That is, "We did not just leave Moses alone when We sent him against Pharaoh, but We gave him guidance at every step till success." This contains a subtle allusion to the effect: "O Muhammad, We shall help you too in the same manner. We have neither left you alone after raising you as a Prophet in the city of Makkah and the tribe of Quraish so that these wicked people may treat you as they like, but We Ourselves are at your back and are giving you guidance at every step."
