29:25 And [Abraham] said, "You have only taken, other than Allah, idols as [a bond of] affection among you in worldly life. Then on the Day of Resurrection you will deny one another and curse one another, and your refuge will be the Fire, and you will not have any helpers."

Quran 29:25 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
And he Abraham said ‘You have adopted mere idols besides God which you worship mā of innamā relates to the verbal noun for the sake of mutual affection between you mawaddatu baynikum this is the predicate of inna of innamā; the accusative reading mawaddata baynikum would denote a direct object denoting reason so that the mā would denote ‘entirety’ — in other words you are friends of one another in your worship of them in the life of this world. Then on the Day of Resurrection you will disown one another the leaders will dissociate from those who followed them; and you will curse one another those who followed will curse their leaders; and your abode your destination all together will be the Fire and you will have no helpers’ to protect you against it.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
There and then said Ibrahim: You people have dedicated your affectionate devotion in this world to idols besides Allah and in Day of Judgement shall all of you deny and reject each other and curse one another and be destined to make your eternal abode in Hell and there, no one can afford you help or protection
Quran 29:25 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
The Response of Ibrahim's People -- and how Allah controlled the Fire
Allah tells us how Ibrahim's people stubbornly and arrogantly disbelieved, and how they resisted the truth with falsehood.
After Ibrahim addressed them with his words of clear guidance,
( except that they said: "Kill him or burn him." ) This was because proof had clearly been established against them, so they resorted to using their power and strength.
( They said: "Build for him a building and throw him into the blazing fire!" So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest. ) ( 37:97-98 ).
They spent a long time gathering a huge amount of firewood, they built a fence around it, then they set it ablaze until its flames reached up to the sky.
No greater fire had ever been lit.
Then they went to Ibrahim, seized him and put him into a catapult, then they threw him into the fire.
But Allah made it cool and safe for him, and after spending several days in it, he emerged unscathed.
For this reason and others, Allah made him an Imam for mankind, for he offered himself to the Most Merciful, he offered his body to the flames, he offered his son as a sacrifice, and he gave his wealth to care for his guests.
For all of these reasons he is beloved by the followers of all religions.
( Then Allah saved him from the fire.
) means, He rescued him from it by making it cool and safe for him.
( Verily, in this are indeed signs for a people who believe. ) Ibrahim, peace be upon him, explains to his people that idols are incapable of doing anything,
( And (Ibrahim ) said: "You have taken idols instead of Allah.
The love between you is only in the life of this world,) Here Ibrahim was rebuking his people for their evil deed of worshipping idols, and telling them: `You have taken these as gods and you come together to worship them so that there is friendship and love among you in this world,'
( but on the Day of Resurrection, ) the situation will be the opposite, and this love and friendship will turn into hatred and enmity.
Then
( you shall deny each other, ) meaning, `you will denounce one another and deny whatever was between you,'
( and curse each other, ) means, the followers will curse their leaders and the leaders will curse their followers.
a( Every time a new nation enters (the Fire ), it curses its sister nation ( that went before )) ( 7:37 ).
( Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except those who have Taqwa. ) ( 43:67 ) And Allah says here:
ثُمَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَـمَةِ يَكْفُرُ بَعْضُكُمْ بِبَعْضٍ وَيَلْعَنُ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً وَمَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ
( but on the Day of Resurrection, you shall deny each other, and curse each other, and your abode will be the Fire, ) meaning, `your ultimate destiny after all accounts have been settled, will be the fire of Hell, and you will have no one to help you or save you from the punishment of Allah.' This will be the state of the disbelievers.
As for the believers, it will be an entirely different matter.
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(29:25) He said: *41 'You have taken up idols instead of Allah as a bond of love among yourselves *42 in the present life, but on the Day of Resurrection you will disown and curse one another. *43 Your refuge shall be the Fire, and none will come to your aid.'
And [Abraham] said, "You have only taken, meaning
*41) The Prophet Abraham must have said this after his safe deliverance tram the fire.
*42) That is, " You have built up your collective life on the foundation of idol-worship instead of.
God-worship, which can keep you bound together as a nation only to the extent of mudane life.
For here in this world people can be got together around any creed, true or false, and any kind of agreement and concord on any belief, however wrong and ill-conceived, can become a means of the establishment of mutual friendships, kinships, brotherhoods, and all other religious, social, cultural, economic and political relationships. "
*43) That is, " The collective life that you have built on the false creed in the world cannot endure in the Hereafter.
Only those relationships of love and friendship and cooperation and kinship and mutual regard and esteem will endure there, which have been based on the worship of One God and virtue and piety in the world.
AlI relationships founded on disbelief and shirk and deviation will be severed, and aII kinds of love will change into enmity and hatred.
The son and the father, the husband and the wife, the saint and the disciple, all will curse each other, and each will blame his deviation on the other, and will say, "This wicked person led the astray: he should be given a double punishment." This thing has been stated at several places in the Qur'an.
For example, in Surah Zukhruf, it has been said: "Friends on that Day shall become enemies of one another, except the righteous." ( v.
67 ) In Surah AI-A`raf: "As each generation will be entering Hell, it will curse Its preceding generation till all generations shall be gathered together there: then each succeeding generation will say regarding the preceding one, " O Lord, these were the people who led us astray; therefore, give them a double chastisement of the Fire. " ( v.
38 ) And in Surah AI-Ahzab: " And they will say; 'Our Lord, we obeyed our chiefs and our great men, and they led us astray front the right path.
Lord, give them a doable chatisement and curse them severely. " ( vv.
67-68 ).
