English - Sahih International

22:26 And [mention, O Muhammad], when We designated for Abraham the site of the House, [saying], "Do not associate anything with Me and purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who stand [in prayer] and those who bow and prostrate.

Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English
Abridged Explanation of the Quran

Remember, O Messenger, when I clarified for Abraham ( peace be upon him ) the place of the house and its limits, after it was unknown, and I revealed to him not to associate anything in worshipping Me, but rather worship Me alone.
And purify My House from physical and immaterial impurities for those who circumambulate it and perform prayer therein.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

And (remember) when We showed Ibrahim (Abraham) the site of the (Sacred) House (the Ka'bah at Makkah) (saying): "Associate not anything (in worship) with Me, [La ilaha ill-Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Islamic Monotheism], and sanctify My House for those who circumambulate it, and those who stand up for prayer, and those who bow (submit themselves with humility and obedience to Allah), and make prostration (in prayer, etc.);"

Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim

We had indicated to Ibrahim (Abraham) the site where he would build the Sacrosanct House and We instructed him thus: Do not incorporate with Me other deities, and cleanse My House from moral and spiritual defilements -idols and the like, placed by the Pagans- and impart to it real sacredness, and make it ceremonially clean for those who go round it in procession and for those who perform the act of worship standing and for those who kneel in supplication and prostrate to make an act of the mind and the will in acknowledgement of Allahs Omnipotence, Perfection and Authority prostrating their reason to divine revelation

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(22:26) Recall to mind the time when We assigned the site of this House (the Ka`bah) to Abraham, saying, "Do not associate anything as a partner with Me; keep My House clean and pure *45 for those who go round it and for those who stand and bow down and prostrate (in worship),

*45) Some commentators opine that the address to Prophet Abraham ends with v. 26 and say that the Command contained in v. 27 was addressed to the Holy Prophet; but this opinion does not fit in with the context. For it is obvious that this Command also was addressed to Prophet Abraham when he had built the Ka`bah. Moreover, the command implies that the House of Allah had been built for the worship of One Allah and there was general permission from the very first day for all worshippers to visit it for performing Hajj.
