surah Yasin aya 74 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿وَاتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً لَّعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ﴾
[ يس: 74]
36:74 But they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that perhaps they would be helped.
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishThe idolaters have taken other deities instead of Allah whom they worship, hoping that they will help them and save them from the punishment of Allah.

And they have taken besides Allah aliha (gods), hoping that they might be helped (by those so called gods).

Waittakhathoo min dooni Allahi alihatan laAAallahum yunsaroona

Yet they take (for worship) gods other than Allah, (hoping) that they might be helped!
