Verse 110 from surah Al Imran

﴿كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ ۗ وَلَوْ آمَنَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُم ۚ مِّنْهُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ﴾
[ آل عمران: 110]

तुम क्या अच्छे गिरोह हो कि (लोगों की) हिदायत के वास्ते पैदा किये गए हो तुम (लोगों को) अच्छे काम का हुक्म करते हो और बुरे कामों से रोकते हो और ख़ुदा पर ईमान रखते हो और अगर अहले किताब भी (इसी तरह) ईमान लाते तो उनके हक़ में बहुत अच्छा होता उनमें से कुछ ही तो ईमानदार हैं और अक्सर बदकार

58. इस आयत में मुसलमानों को संबोधित किया गया है, तथा उन्हें उम्मत कहा गया है। किसी जाति अथवा वर्ग और वर्ण के नाम से संबोधित नहीं किया गया है। और इसमें यह संकेत है कि मुसलमान उनका नाम है जो सत्धर्म के अनुयायी हों। तथा उनके अस्तित्व का लक्ष्य यह बताया गया है कि वह संपूर्ण मानव विश्व को सत्धर्म इस्लाम की ओर बुलाएँ, जो सर्व मानव जाति का धर्म है। किसी विशेष जाति, क्षेत्र अथवा देश का धर्म नहीं है।

तुम एक उत्तम समुदाय हो, जो लोगों के समक्ष लाया गया है। तुम नेकी का हुक्म देते हो और बुराई से रोकते हो और अल्लाह पर ईमान रखते हो। और यदि किताबवाले भी ईमान लाते तो उनके लिए यह अच्छा होता। उनमें ईमानवाले भी हैं, किन्तु उनमें अधिकतर लोग अवज्ञाकारी ही हैं

Quran Urdu translation

(مومنو) جتنی امتیں (یعنی قومیں) لوگوں میں پیدا ہوئیں تم ان سب سے بہتر ہو کہ نیک کام کرنے کو کہتے ہو اور برے کاموں سے منع کرتے ہو اور خدا پر ایمان رکھتے ہو اور اگر اہلِ کتاب بھی ایمان لے آتے تو ان کے لیے بہت اچھا ہوتا ان میں ایمان لانے والے بھی ہیں (لیکن تھوڑے) اور اکثر نافرمان ہیں

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(3:110) You are now the best people brought forth for (the guidance and reform of) mankind. *88 You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah. Had the People of the Book *89 believed it were better for them. Some of them are believers but most of them are transgressors.

*88). This is the same declaration that was made earlier (see verse 2: 143 above). The Arabian Prophet (peace be on him) and his followers are informed that they are being assigned the guidance and leadership of the world, a position the Israelites had been relieved of because they had shown themselves unsuitable. The Muslims were charged with this responsibility because of their competence. They were the best people in terms of character and morals and had developed in theory and in practice the qualities essential for truly righteous leadership, namely the spirit and practical commitment to promoting good and suppressing evil and the acknowledgement of the One True God as their Lord and Master. In view of the task entrusted to them, they had to become conscious of their responsibilities and avoid the mistakes committed by their predecessors (see Surah 1, nn. 123 and 144 above).

You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah. If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient.

তোমরাই হলে সর্বোত্তম উম্মত, মানবজাতির কল্যানের জন্যেই তোমাদের উদ্ভব ঘটানো হয়েছে। তোমরা সৎকাজের নির্দেশ দান করবে ও অন্যায় কাজে বাধা দেবে এবং আল্লাহর প্রতি ঈমান আনবে। আর আহলে-কিতাবরা যদি ঈমান আনতো, তাহলে তা তাদের জন্য মঙ্গলকর হতো। তাদের মধ্যে কিছু তো রয়েছে ঈমানদার আর অধিকাংশই হলো পাপাচারী।

  8. (ऐ रसूल उनसे) पूछो तो कि क्या तुम यह समझते हो कि अगर तुम्हारे सामने
  9. और ये कि पहले हम वहाँ बहुत से मक़ामात में (बातें) सुनने के लिए बैठा
  10. माँगने वाले को झिड़की न देना
