Indeed, We subjected the mountains [to praise] with him, exalting [Allah] in (38:18)

﴿إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا الْجِبَالَ مَعَهُ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِالْعَشِيِّ وَالْإِشْرَاقِ﴾
[ ص: 18]

38:18 Indeed, We subjected the mountains [to praise] with him, exalting [Allah] in the [late] afternoon and [after] sunrise.

I subjugated the mountains with David.
They would exalt with his exalting at the end of the day and its beginning at sunrise.

Verily, We made the mountains to glorify Our Praises with him [Dawud (David)] in the 'Ashi (i.e. after the mid-day till sunset) and Ishraq (i.e. after the sunrise till mid-day).

Inna sakhkharna aljibala maAAahu yusabbihna bialAAashiyyi waalishraqi

Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation

It was We that made the hills declare, in unison with him, Our Praises, at eventide and at break of day,

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

Verily, We made the mountains to glorify Our praises with him in the `Ashi and Ishraq.
