[This is] so that the People of the Scripture may know that (57:29)

﴿لِّئَلَّا يَعْلَمَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَلَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَىٰ شَيْءٍ مِّن فَضْلِ اللَّهِ ۙ وَأَنَّ الْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ﴾
[ الحديد: 29]

57:29 [This is] so that the People of the Scripture may know that they are not able [to obtain] anything from the bounty of Allah and that [all] bounty is in the hand of Allah; He gives it to whom He wills. And Allah is the possessor of great bounty.

O believers! Verily I have clearly explained My great favour I have prepared for you in the multitude of rewards, so that the people of the previous Book i.
e.
the Jews and Christians know that they cannot access any of the favour of Allah in terms of being able to give it to whomsoever they wish, and so that they also know that true favour is in Allah’s Hands ( may He be glorified ); He grants it to whomsoever He wishes.
And Allah is the bestower of great favours, which He exclusively gives to whichever of His servants He wishes.

So that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may know that they have no power whatsoever over the Grace of Allah, and that (His) Grace is (entirely) in His Hand to bestow it on whomsoever He wills. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty.

Lialla yaAAlama ahlu alkitabi alla yaqdiroona AAala shayin min fadli Allahi waanna alfadla biyadi Allahi yuteehi man yashao waAllahu thoo alfadli alAAatheemi

Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation

That the People of the Book may know that they have no power whatever over the Grace of Allah, that (His) Grace is (entirely) in His Hand, to bestow it on whomsoever He wills. For Allah is the Lord of Grace abounding.

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

So that the People of the Scriptures may know that they have no power whatsoever over the grace of Allah, and that (His) grace is in His Hand to bestow it on whomsoever He wills. And Allah is the Owner of great bounty.
