Verse 69 from surah Ya-Sin

﴿وَمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ الشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنبَغِي لَهُ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْآنٌ مُّبِينٌ﴾
[ يس: 69]

और हमने न उस (पैग़म्बर) को शेर की तालीम दी है और न शायरी उसकी शान के लायक़ है ये (किताब) तो बस (निरी) नसीहत और साफ-साफ कुरान है

22. मक्का के मूर्तिपूजक नबी (सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि व सल्लम) के संबंध में कई प्रकार की बातें कहते थे जिनमें यह बात भी थी कि आप कवि हैं। अल्लाह ने इस आयत में इसी का खंडन किया है।

हमने उस (नबी) को कविता नहीं सिखाई और न वह उसके लिए शोभनीय है। वह तो केवल अनुस्मृति और स्पष्ट क़ुरआन है;

اور ہم نے ان (پیغمبر) کو شعر گوئی نہیں سکھائی اور نہ وہ ان کو شایاں ہے۔ یہ تو محض نصیحت اور صاف صاف قرآن (پُرازحکمت) ہے

(36:69) We did not teach him (to wit, the Messenger) poetry and it does not behove him. *58 This is none but an Admonition, and a Clear Book

And We did not give Prophet Muhammad, knowledge of poetry, nor is meaning

*58) This is a rejoinder to the disbelievers, who slighted the Holy Prophet and his message by branding him a poet when he preached Tauhid and talked of the Hereafter, life-after-death, and Hell and Heaven. (For further explanation, see Ash-Shu'ara: 224-227 and the E.N.'s thereof).

  1. क्या तूने नहीं देखा कि ख़ुदा ही ने सारे आसमान व ज़मीन ज़रुर मसलहत से
  2. तो जब उन लोगों ने इस (अज़ाब) को देखा कि वबाल की तरह उनके मैदानों
  3. और न उनको अज़ाब से मोहलत दी जाएगी और तुम्हारा माबूद तो वही यकता ख़ुदा
  4. और ग़ायब होते हैं
  5. और अपने परवरदिगार का ज़िक्र करता और नमाज़ पढ़ता रहा
  6. अहले किताब में से जो लोग न तो (दिल से) ख़ुदा ही पर ईमान रखते
  7. आगाह रहो इसमें शक़ नहीं कि जो लोग आसमानों में हैं और जो लोग ज़मीन
  8. (उस वक्त उनसे कहा जाएगा कि) आज एक मौत को न पुकारो बल्कि बहुतेरी मौतों
  9. और ये लोग जिस वक्त ज़हन्नुम में बाहम झगड़ेंगें तो कम हैसियत लोग बड़े आदमियों
  10. और जब नाप तौल कर देना हो तो पैमाने को पूरा भर दिया करो और
