Verse 66 from surah Al-Maidah

﴿وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ أَقَامُوا التَّوْرَاةَ وَالْإِنجِيلَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِم مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ لَأَكَلُوا مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِم ۚ مِّنْهُمْ أُمَّةٌ مُّقْتَصِدَةٌ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ سَاءَ مَا يَعْمَلُونَ﴾
[ المائدة: 66]

और अगर यह लोग तौरैत और इन्जील और (सहीफ़े) उनके पास उनके परवरदिगार की तरफ़ से नाज़िल किये गए थे (उनके एहकाम को) क़ायम रखते तो ज़रूर (उनके) ऊपर से भी (रिज़क़ बरस पड़ता) और पॉवों के नीचे से भी उबल आता और (ये ख़ूब चैन से) खाते उनमें से कुछ लोग तो एतदाल पर हैं (मगर) उनमें से बहुतेरे जो कुछ करते हैं बुरा ही करते हैं

40. अर्थात उनके आदेशों का पालन करते और उसे अपना जीवन विधान बनाते। 41. अर्थात आकाश की वर्षा तथा धर्ती की उपज में अधिकता होती।

और यदि वे तौरात और इनजील को और जो कुछ उनके रब की ओर से उनकी ओर उतारा गया है, उसे क़ायम रखते, तो उन्हें अपने ऊपर से भी खाने को मिलता और अपने पाँव के नीचे से भी। उनमें से एक गिरोह सीधे मार्ग पर चलनेवाला भी है, किन्तु उनमें से अधिकतर ऐसे है कि जो भी करते है बुरा होता है

اور اگر وہ تورات اور انجیل کو اور جو (اور کتابیں) ان کے پروردگار کی طرف سے ان پر نازل ہوئیں ان کو قائم رکھتے (تو ان پر رزق مینہ کی طرح برستا کہ) اپنے اوپر سے پاؤں کے نیچے سے کھاتے ان میں کچھ لوگ میانہ رو ہیں اور بہت سے ایسے ہیں جن کے اعمال برے ہیں

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(5:66) Had the People of the Book observed the Torah and the Gospel, and all that had been revealed to them from their Lord, sustenance would have been showered over them from above and risen from beneath their feet. *96 Some among them certainly keep to the right path; but many of them do things which are evil.

And if only they upheld [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, meaning

*96) In the Old Testament, Leviticus (chapter 26) and Deuteronomy (chapter 28) record a sermon of Moses in which he impresses upon Israel, in great detail, the bounties and blessings of God with which they would be endowed if they obeyed His commandments, and the afflictions, scourges and devastations that would descend upon them if they disobeyed Him and rejected the Book of God. That sermon of Moses is the best explanation of this verse of the Qur'an.

Walaw annahum aqamoo alttawrata waalinjeela wama onzila ilayhim min rabbihim laakaloo min fawqihim wamin tahti arjulihim minhum ommatun muqtasidatun wakatheerun minhum saa ma yaAAmaloona

English - Sahih International


And if only they upheld [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to them from their Lord, they would have consumed [provision] from above them and from beneath their feet. Among them are a moderate community, but many of them - evil is that which they do.

যদি তারা তওরাত, ইঞ্জিল এবং যা প্রতিপালকের পক্ষ থেকে তাদের প্রতি অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে, পুরোপুরি পালন করত, তবে তারা উপর থেকে এবং পায়ের নীচ থেকে ভক্ষণ করত। তাদের কিছুসংখ্যক লোক সৎপথের অনুগামী এবং অনেকেই মন্দ কাজ করে যাচ্ছে।

  1. (और उनसे कहा जाएगा) अपने अज़ाब का मज़ा चखो ये वही है जिसकी तुम जल्दी
  2. हालॉकि जब उनमें किसी शख़्श को उस चीज़ (बेटी) की ख़ुशख़बरी दी जाती है जिसकी
  3. और जिस तरह तुम्हारे क़िबले के बारे में हिदायत की उसी तरह तुम को आदिल
  4. और (इसी तरह) आदमियों में से भी बेशक खुदा (सबकी) सुनता देखता है जो कुछ
  5. (बस) फिर तो इबराहीम चुपके से उनके बुतों की तरफ मुतावज्जे हुए और (तान से)
  6. और शैतान का उन लोगों पर कुछ क़ाबू तो था नहीं मगर ये (मतलब था)
  7. और ये कुरान ऐसा नहीं कि खुदा के सिवा कोई और अपनी तरफ से झूठ
  8. जो कुछ आसमानों में है और जो कुछ ज़मीन में है (ग़रज़) सब कुछ खुदा
  9. (आख़िर) रसूल ने दुआ की ऐ मेरे पालने वाले तू ठीक-ठीक मेरे और काफिरों के
  10. और (मुसलमानों) तुम्हारे एतराफ़ (आस पास) के गॅवार देहातियों में से बाज़ मुनाफिक़ (भी) हैं
