﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَوَفَّاهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ ظَالِمِي أَنفُسِهِمْ قَالُوا فِيمَ كُنتُمْ ۖ قَالُوا كُنَّا مُسْتَضْعَفِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۚ قَالُوا أَلَمْ تَكُنْ أَرْضُ اللَّهِ وَاسِعَةً فَتُهَاجِرُوا فِيهَا ۚ فَأُولَٰئِكَ مَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَسَاءَتْ مَصِيرًا﴾

Ayat With Hindi Translation

बेशक जिन लोगों की क़ब्जे रूह फ़रिश्ते ने उस वक़त की है कि (दारूल हरब में पड़े) अपनी जानों पर ज़ुल्म कर रहे थे और फ़रिश्ते कब्जे रूह के बाद हैरत से कहते हैं तुम किस (हालत) ग़फ़लत में थे तो वह (माज़ेरत के लहजे में) कहते है कि हम तो रूए ज़मीन में बेकस थे तो फ़रिश्ते कहते हैं कि ख़ुदा की (ऐसी लम्बी चौड़ी) ज़मीन में इतनी सी गुन्जाइश न थी कि तुम (कहीं) हिजरत करके चले जाते पस ऐसे लोगों का ठिकाना जहन्नुम है और वह बुरा ठिकाना है

66. जब सत्य के विरोधियों के अत्याचार से विवश होकर नबी सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि व सल्लम मदीना हिजरत (प्रस्थान) कर गए, तो अरब में दो प्रकार के देश हो गए : मदीना दारुल-हिजरत (प्रवास गृह) था, जिसमें मुसलमान हिजरत करके एकत्र हो गए। तथा दारुल ह़र्ब। अर्थात् वह क्षेत्र जो शत्रुओं के नियंत्रण में था। जिसका केंद्र मक्का था। यहाँ जो मुसलमान थे वे अपनी आस्था तथा धार्मिक कर्म से वंचित थे। उन्हे शत्रु का अत्याचार सहना पड़ता था। इसलिए उन्हें यह आदेश दिया गया था कि मदीना हिजरत कर जाएँ। और यदि वे शक्ति रखते हुए हिजरत नहीं करेंगे, तो अपने इस आलस्य के लिए उत्तरदायी होंगे। इसके पश्चात् आगामी आयत में उनकी चर्चा की जा रही है, जो हिजरत करने से विवश थे। मक्का से मदीना हिजरत करने का यह आदेश मक्का की विजय सन् 8 हिजरी के पश्चात् निरस्त कर दिया गया। इब्ने अब्बास रज़ियल्लाहु अन्हु कहते हैं कि नबी सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि व सल्लम के युग में कुछ मुसलमान काफ़िरों की संख्या बढ़ाने के लिए उनके साथ हो जाते थे। और तीर या तलवार लगने से मारे जाते थे, उन्हीं के बारे में यह आयत उतरी। (सह़ीह़ बुख़ारी : 4596)

जो लोग अपने-आप पर अत्याचार करते है, जब फ़रिश्ते उस दशा में उनके प्राण ग्रस्त कर लेते है, तो कहते है, "तुम किस दशा में पड़े रहे?" वे कहते है, "हम धरती में निर्बल और बेबस थे।" फ़रिश्ते कहते है, "क्या अल्लाह की धरती विस्तृत न थी कि तुम उसमें घर-बार छोड़कर कहीं ओर चले जाते?" तो ये वही लोग है जिनका ठिकाना जहन्नम है। - और वह बहुत ही बुरा ठिकाना है

Quran Urdu translation

اور جو لوگ اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کرتے ہیں جب فرشتے ان کی جان قبض کرنے لگتے ہیں تو ان سے پوچھتے ہیں کہ تم کس حال میں تھے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم ملک میں عاجز وناتواں تھے فرشتے کہتے ہیں کیا خدا کا ملک فراخ نہیں تھا کہ تم اس میں ہجرت کر جاتے ایسے لوگوں کا ٹھکانہ دوزخ ہے اور وہ بری جگہ ہے

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(4:97) While taking the souls of those who were engaged in wronging themselves, *129 the angels asked: 'In what circumstances were you?' They replied: 'We were too weak and helpless in the land.' The angels said: 'Was not the earth of Allah wide enough for you to emigrate in it?' *130 For such men their refuge is Hell - an evil destination indeed;

Indeed, those whom the angels take [in death] while wronging themselves - meaning

*129). The reference here is to those who stay behind along with the unbelievers, despite no genuine disability. They are satisfied with a life made up of a blend of Islamic and un-Islamic elements, even though they have had the chance to migrate to the Dar al-Islam and thus enjoy a full Islamic life. This is the wrong that they committed against themselves. What kept them satisfied with the mixture of Islamic and un-Islamic elements in their life was not any genuine disability but their love of ease and comfort, their excessive attachment to their kith and kin and to their properties and worldly interests. These concerns had exceeded reasonable limits and had even taken precedence over their concern for their religion (see also n. 116 above).

Those people who had willingly acquiesced to living under an un-Islamic order would be called to account by God and would be asked: If a certain territory was under the dominance of rebels against God, so that it had become impossible to follow His Law, why did you continue to live there? Why did you not migrate to a land where it was possible to follow the law of God?

Inna allatheena tawaffahumu almalaikatu thalimee anfusihim qaloo feema kuntum qaloo kunna mustadAAafeena fee alardi qaloo alam takun ardu Allahi wasiAAatan fatuhajiroo feeha faolaika mawahum jahannamu wasaat maseeran

English - Sahih International

Indeed, those whom the angels take [in death] while wronging themselves - [the angels] will say, "In what [condition] were you?" They will say, "We were oppressed in the land." The angels will say, "Was not the earth of Allah spacious [enough] for you to emigrate therein?" For those, their refuge is Hell - and evil it is as a destination.

Quran Bangla tarjuma

যারা নিজের অনিষ্ট করে, ফেরেশতারা তাদের প্রাণ হরণ করে বলে, তোমরা কি অবস্থায় ছিলে? তারা বলেঃ এ ভূখন্ডে আমরা অসহায় ছিলাম। ফেরেশতারা বলেঃ আল্লাহর পৃথিবী কি প্রশস্ত ছিল না যে, তোমরা দেশত্যাগ করে সেখানে চলে যেতে? অতএব, এদের বাসস্থান হল জাহান্নাম এবং তা অত্যন্ত মন্দ স্থান।
