Iqlab - Converting Noon/Tanween into Meem before Baa
Iqlab: Converting Noon/Tanween into Meem before Baa
Linguistic definition of Iqlab: to turn something over, or change its form.
Technical definition of Iqlab: converting the silent Noon or Tanween into a hidden, nasalized Meem whenever it is followed by the letter Baa.
The converted Meem is pronounced hidden (mukhfah), by leaving a slight gap between the lips without pressing them together, and the nasalization (ghunnah) must be held for the duration of two counts (harakahs) after the conversion.
Examples of Iqlab: Iqlab may occur within a single word, or across two words.
(Aal-'Imran: 44)
(Aal-'Imran: 15)
