Rulings of Meem Sakenah

Rulings of the Silent Meem (Meem Sakenah)

The silent Meem is a Meem that carries no vowel, and it has three rulings when meeting the letter that follows it:

1Labial Idgham (Idgham Mutamathilayn)

Occurs when the silent Meem is followed by another Meem, merging into one doubled Meem with ghunnah.

2Labial Ikhfa

Occurs when the silent Meem is followed by the letter Baa, hiding the Meem while preserving the ghunnah.

3Labial Idhar

Occurs when the silent Meem is followed by any letter other than Meem or Baa, requiring the Meem to be pronounced clearly.
