﴿فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ﴾
[ النحل: 34]

So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
