Verse 147 from surah As-Saaffat

﴿وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ﴾
[ الصافات: 147]

और हमने उसे एक लाख या उससे अधिक (लोगों) की ओर भेजा

Quran Urdu translation

اور ان کو لاکھ یا اس سے زیادہ (لوگوں) کی طرف (پیغمبر بنا کر) بھیجا

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(37:147) and We sent him forth to a nation of a hundred thousand or more, *84

And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or meaning

*84) The mention of "a hundred thousand people or more" does not mean that Allah had any doubt about their number, but it means that a casual observer would have estimated the population to be more than a hundred thousand people in any case. Probably it was the same place which the Prophet Jonah had left and fled. After his departure when the people of the place saw the scourge approaching they believed, but this was only a kind of repentance which was accepted and the scourge averted. Now, the Prophet Jonah was again sent .to them so drat the people should believe in him as a Prophet and become Muslims formally. To understand this, one should keep in view verse 98 of Surah Yunus.

  4. और ऐ मेरी क़ौमे मेरी ज़िद कही तुम से ऐसा जुर्म न करा दे जैसी
  5. (ऐ रसूल) बेशक तुम्हारा परवरदिगार अपने हुक्म से उनके आपस (के झगड़ों) का फैसला कर
  6. तो अब तू ही (इनसे) बदला ले तो हमने मूसलाधार पानी से आसमान के दरवाज़े
  7. क्या तुमने उस शख़्श को भी देखा है जो रोज़ जज़ा को झुठलाता है
  8. (और जो नाफरमानी करे) इसी तरह सज़ा होगी और आख़िर हमने उन्हीं चीज़ों का मालिक
  9. तलाक़ रजअई जिसके बाद रुजू हो सकती है दो ही मरतबा है उसके बाद या
  10. (ऐ रसूल) तुम कह दो कि क्या तुम समझते हो कि अगर उसका अज़ाब तुम
