Si hubiera sido por una ganancia muy asequible o un viaje a (9:42)

﴿لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا وَسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لَّاتَّبَعُوكَ وَلَٰكِن بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّقَّةُ ۚ وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ لَوِ اسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْ يُهْلِكُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ﴾
[ التوبة: 42]

Si hubiera sido por una ganancia muy asequible o un viaje a media distancia te habrían seguido, pero les pareció lejos.Y jurarán por Allah: Si hubiéramos podido, habríamos salido con vosotros. Se perderán a sí mismos y Allah sabe que mienten.

Si hubiera sido por algo mundano fácil de conseguir o un viaje breve, te habrían seguido, pero la distancia [en la batalla de Tabuk] era muy larga [y por ello se negaron a salir a combatir]. Juraron por Dios que si hubieran podido, habrían salido con ustedes. Se destruyeron a sí mismos [con sus excusas falsas], pero Dios sabe que mienten.

42. Si hubiera habido algún bien terrenal fácil de conseguir o el viaje hubiera sido corto, (los hipócritas) te habrían seguido para combatir, mas la distancia les pareció larga. Te jurarán por Al-lah (cuando regreses de Tabuk): «Si hubiésemos podido, habríamos salido con vosotros». Mas causan su propia perdición (jurando en vano), pues Al-lah sabe que mienten.

Had it been an easy gain and a moderate trip, the hypocrites would have followed you, but distant to them was the journey. And they will swear by Allah, "If we were able, we would have gone forth with you," destroying themselves [through false oaths], and Allah knows that indeed they are liars.
