Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Hudud Allah: The boundaries, limits, and ordinances set by Allah — His sacred laws that define what is permissible and what is forbidden.
  • Yuti' Allah wa Rasulahu: To obey Allah and His Messenger by following their commands and abstaining from what they prohibited.
  • Jannat: Gardens of Paradise — lush, eternal gardens filled with blessings.
  • Tajri min tahtiha al-anhar: Rivers flowing beneath them — streams of pure, delightful water running under the palaces and trees of Paradise.
  • Khalidin fiha: Abiding therein forever — eternal residence with no end.
  • Al-Fawz al-'Azim: The supreme success — the ultimate triumph that surpasses every worldly achievement.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse follows a series of rulings concerning orphans, women, and inheritance — divine legislations that are not arbitrary but are the precise boundaries set by the All-Wise Creator. These are the limits of Allah, meaning His sacred laws that delineate right from wrong, justice from oppression. They are called "boundaries" because they are like fences protecting the moral and social fabric of humanity; crossing them leads to ruin, while respecting them leads to salvation.

Allah then declares that whoever obeys Him and His Messenger — by implementing these rulings and adhering to all that has been commanded — will be admitted into Gardens beneath which rivers flow. These are eternal abodes of bliss, where the believer will dwell forever, never to experience death, pain, or sorrow. The rivers that flow beneath signify perpetual life, freshness, and abundance. The phrase "abiding therein forever" removes any doubt of termination, assuring the believer of unending joy.

Finally, Allah describes this reward as "the great success" — a success that dwarfs every worldly victory. No wealth, power, or pleasure in this life can compare to the eternal bliss of Paradise. This is the true achievement that every rational soul should strive for.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, ponder the beauty of this divine promise! The Lord of the worlds — the One who created you, sustains you, and knows what is best for you — has opened the gates of eternal happiness to those who simply obey Him and His beloved Messenger ﷺ. The path is clear, the reward is unimaginable, and the invitation is open to all. Do not let the fleeting pleasures of this world distract you from the everlasting gardens that await. Every act of obedience — no matter how small — brings you closer to that eternal success. Embrace the boundaries of Allah with love and conviction, for they are not restrictions but safeguards leading you to the ultimate triumph. May Allah make us among those who obey Him and His Messenger, and may He admit us into His eternal gardens. Ameen.

📜 Verse 11-15 — An-Nisa

Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females. But if there are [only] daughters, two or more, for them is two thirds of one's estate. And if there is only one, for her is half. And for one's parents, to each one of them is a sixth of his estate if he left children. But if he had no children and the parents [alone] inherit from him, then for his mother is one third. And if he had brothers [or sisters], for his mother is a sixth, after any bequest he [may have] made or debt. Your parents or your children - you know not which of them are nearest to you in benefit. [These shares are] an obligation [imposed] by Allah. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
And for you is half of what your wives leave if they have no child. But if they have a child, for you is one fourth of what they leave, after any bequest they [may have] made or debt. And for the wives is one fourth if you leave no child. But if you leave a child, then for them is an eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may have] made or debt. And if a man or woman leaves neither ascendants nor descendants but has a brother or a sister, then for each one of them is a sixth. But if they are more than two, they share a third, after any bequest which was made or debt, as long as there is no detriment [caused]. [This is] an ordinance from Allah, and Allah is Knowing and Forbearing.
These are the limits [set by] Allah, and whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger will be admitted by Him to gardens [in Paradise] under which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein; and that is the great attainment.
And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses His limits - He will put him into the Fire to abide eternally therein, and he will have a humiliating punishment.
Those who commit unlawful sexual intercourse of your women - bring against them four [witnesses] from among you. And if they testify, confine the guilty women to houses until death takes them or Allah ordains for them [another] way.
