﴿وَلَكُمْ فِي الْقِصَاصِ حَيَاةٌ يَا أُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ﴾
[ البقرة: 179]

और ऐ अक़लमनदों क़सास (के क़वाएद मुक़र्रर कर देने) में तुम्हारी ज़िन्दगी है (और इसीलिए जारी किया गया है ताकि तुम ख़ूंरेज़ी से) परहेज़ करो

98. क्योंकि इस नियम के कारण कोई किसी को हत करने का साहस नहीं करेगा। इस लिए इसके कारण समाज शांतिमय हो जाएगा। अर्थात एक क़िसास से लोगों के जीवन की रक्षा होगी। जैसा कि उन देशों में जहाँ क़िसास का नियम है देखा जा सकता है। क़ुरआन इसी ओर संकेत करते हुए कहता है कि क़िसास के नियम के अंदर वास्तव में जीवन है।

ऐ बुद्धि और समझवालों! तुम्हारे लिए हत्यादंड (क़िसास) में जीवन है, ताकि तुम बचो

Quran Urdu translation

اور اے اہل عقل (حکم) قصاص میں (تمہاری) زندگانی ہے کہ تم (قتل و خونریزی سے) بچو

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(2:179) There is security of life for you in the law of retribution. *181 It is expected that you will refrain from breaking this law.

And there is for you in legal retribution [saving of] life, O meaning

*181). This refutes another notion of Ignorance, a notion ingrained in the minds of many people, both past and present. On the one hand there are some people who, entrenched in Ignorance, tend to exceed the limits of moderation in revenge. At the other end of the spectrum stand those who are opposed in principle to the concept of executing a murderer. They have conducted such intense, world-wide propaganda against the death penalty that it has become abhorrent to many people. In fact the impact of this propaganda has been so great that in many countries the death penalty has been abolished altogether.
The Qur'an, however, addresses itself on this question to wise and intelligent people and cautions them against such immoderate leniency by proclaiming that the survival of human society rests on the application of the death penalty for homicide. A society which holds inviolable the lives of those who disregard the sanctity of human life is in fact rearing snakes and serpents. To save the life of one murderer is to risk the lives of many innocent human beings.

Walakum fee alqisasi hayatun ya olee alalbabi laAAallakum tattaqoona

And there is for you in legal retribution [saving of] life, O you [people] of understanding, that you may become righteous.

হে বুদ্ধিমানগণ! কেসাসের মধ্যে তোমাদের জন্যে জীবন রয়েছে, যাতে তোমরা সাবধান হতে পার।
