﴿إِن تُصِبْكَ حَسَنَةٌ تَسُؤْهُمْ ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْكَ مُصِيبَةٌ يَقُولُوا قَدْ أَخَذْنَا أَمْرَنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَيَتَوَلَّوا وَّهُمْ فَرِحُونَ﴾
[ التوبة: 50]

Si te sucede un bien les duele, y si te ocurre un contratiempo dicen: Ya habíamos tomado una determinación, y se alejan alegrándose.

Spanish Translation - Garcia

Si obtienes un éxito se disgustan, pero si recibes un revés dicen: "Ya habíamos tomado nuestras precauciones", y se marchan alegres.

50. Si te sucede algo bueno (como la victoria en la batalla, oh, Muhammad!), les disgusta; pero si sufres un revés, dicen: «Tomamos nuestras precauciones con anterioridad (al no combatir con ellos)», y se alejan contentos.

If good befalls you, it distresses them; but if disaster strikes you, they say, "We took our matter [in hand] before," and turn away while they are rejoicing.
