Explanation of the Verse:
O Messenger, ask these polytheists who worship others alongside Allah: "Who is the Lord and Creator of the heavens and the earth — the One who originated them, sustains them, and manages all their affairs?" They will inevitably answer, "Allah." So say to them, affirming this truth: "Allah is indeed the Lord and Creator of all that exists." Then, to establish the proof against them, ask: "If you already acknowledge that Allah alone is the Creator and Sustainer, then why have you taken for yourselves protectors and objects of worship besides Him — idols and false deities that possess no power whatsoever to bring benefit to themselves or to ward off harm from themselves, let alone to benefit you or protect you from harm?" How can one who cannot even help himself be worthy of your worship and devotion?
Then say to them, O Messenger: "Is the blind person equal to the one who can see?" Of course not! Likewise, the disbeliever who is blind to the truth is not equal to the believer who sees with insight and follows guidance. And ask them: "Can darkness and light ever be the same?" Certainly not! In the same way, disbelief — which is like layers of darkness covering the heart — can never be equal to faith, which is the radiant light that illuminates the soul and guides to righteousness.
Then challenge them further: "Or have they attributed to Allah partners who have created something like His creation, so that the creation became confused and similar to them?" The reality is that their so-called partners have created nothing at all. No idol, no stone, no star, no prophet — none of them created even a single atom. So how can they be compared to Allah, the Creator of everything?
So say to them, O Messenger, with certainty and finality: "Allah is the Creator of all things." He alone brought everything into existence from nothing — the heavens, the earth, the stars, the mountains, the oceans, and every living being. He has no partner in creation, and therefore He alone deserves your worship, your love, and your devotion. He is Al-Wahid — the One who is unique in His divinity, with no equal and no associate — and He is Al-Qahhar — the Subduer who overcomes all things, and before whose might every creature submits, whether willingly or unwillingly.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on this profound truth: the entire universe — with its breathtaking order, its magnificent galaxies, its intricate ecosystems, and your own body with its countless wonders — points to one undeniable reality: there is One Creator, One Sustainer, One God worthy of worship. When you look at the sky above and the earth beneath, when you feel the breeze on your face and see the sun rise each morning, know that all of this is the work of Allah alone. He has no partner, no rival, no equal.
So why would you turn away from the worship of this Great Creator to worship things that cannot even protect themselves? Why would you exchange light for darkness, sight for blindness? The path of faith is clear, bright, and filled with peace. The path of disbelief is dark, confusing, and leads only to loss. Choose the light of Islam, submit to the One who created you, and you will find true success in this life and the next. Allah is Al-Wahid — call upon Him alone. He is Al-Qahhar — nothing can overcome Him, and He is always near, always ready to answer those who turn to Him with sincerity.
