Tafsir (Explanation):
O people, know with certainty that this worldly life—no matter how attractive it appears—is nothing more than a fleeting game and a passing amusement. It is a playground where bodies tire themselves chasing illusions, and hearts become distracted from their true purpose. It is adorned with glittering beauties that captivate the eyes, yet these are but temporary decorations that fade. People boast before one another, inflating their egos with possessions and status, and they compete relentlessly to accumulate more wealth and more children, as if these were the ultimate measures of success.
Allah gives you a vivid parable to open your eyes: This life is like rain that falls upon the earth, causing lush, green vegetation to sprout. The farmer marvels at it—he is filled with wonder and delight at the growth. But soon, the plants dry up, turn yellow, and then crumble into broken, worthless chaff scattered by the wind. What was once vibrant and promising becomes nothing but dust. Such is the fate of every worldly pursuit that is not anchored in faith and good deeds.
Now, as for the Hereafter, it holds two very different destinies: a severe punishment for those who lived heedless of their Lord, chasing only the mirage of this world; and forgiveness from Allah and His eternal pleasure for the believers who recognized the truth and acted upon it. These are the ones who invested in what truly lasts.
So let this be clear: The life of this world, for the one who makes it his ultimate goal and forgets his eternal home, is nothing but a deceptive enjoyment—a mirage that promises water but delivers only thirst. It is like a merchant who trades gold for dust, thinking he has gained, only to realize his loss when it is too late.
Dear reader, do not let the glitter of this world blind you. It is but a bridge—cross it with wisdom, take from it what helps you reach your true destination, and never let it become your final abode. The pleasure of Allah and His Paradise are the real treasures; everything else is but a shadow that vanishes with the morning sun. Choose wisely, for the Hereafter is forever, and this world is merely a passing moment in the journey of your soul.
