Castigamo-los; porém, não se submeteram ao seu Senhor, nem se humilharam, (23:76)

﴿وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَاهُم بِالْعَذَابِ فَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ﴾
[ المؤمنون: 76]

Castigamo-los; porém, não se submeteram ao seu Senhor, nem se humilharam,

E, com efeito, apanhamo-los com o castigo; mas, não se sujeitaram a seu Senhor, e não se humildam,

And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus]
