This lamp is fueled by the oil of a blessed olive tree—a tree that is neither strictly eastern nor strictly western, but stands in a balanced position where it receives the sun's rays from morning to evening. The oil of this tree is so pure and fine that it almost glows by itself, even before a flame touches it. And when fire does touch it, its light multiplies—light upon light.
