Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Āyāt mubayyināt — Clear, distinct signs and verses that make the truth evident and separate it from falsehood.
  • Mathalan — An example, a lesson, or a model to be learned from.
  • Khalaw — Those who have passed away, gone before, or preceded you in time.
  • Mawʿiẓah — An admonition, a sincere advice, or a reminder that softens the heart and urges one toward righteousness.
  • Al-Muttaqīn — Those who are God-conscious, who fear Allah and strive to obey His commands while avoiding what He has forbidden.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O people! Allah, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, has sent down to you a complete and comprehensive guidance. He has revealed clear verses — verses that distinguish the lawful from the unlawful, the permissible from the prohibited, and the truth from falsehood. These verses are not ambiguous or confusing; they are luminous signs that illuminate the path of righteousness for anyone who seeks it sincerely.

Furthermore, Allah has given you examples from those who came before you — the stories of previous nations, both the believers who were rewarded for their faith and obedience, and the disbelievers who faced destruction due to their arrogance and rejection of the truth. These historical accounts are not mere tales of the past; they are living lessons, mirrors in which you can see the consequences of both obedience and disobedience. They serve as a warning and a source of wisdom, so that you may learn from the fate of those who came before and avoid their mistakes.

And finally, Allah has sent down an admonition for the God-conscious — a reminder that penetrates the heart, awakens the soul, and guides the believer toward sincere repentance and steadfastness upon the truth. This admonition is especially beneficial for those who fear their Lord and are mindful of His watchful eye upon them. For such people, the verses of the Qur'an are not merely words to be recited; they are living guidance that transforms their lives, purifies their hearts, and draws them closer to their Creator.

A Daʿwah Reflection:

How great is the mercy of Allah that He did not leave us in darkness! He gave us the Qur'an — a complete manual for life, filled with clear signs, historical lessons, and heartfelt admonitions. Every verse is a gift, every story is a treasure, and every reminder is an opportunity to return to Him.

So, dear reader, do not let these verses pass by you without reflection. Open your heart to the Qur'an, and you will find in it a light that dispels every confusion, a comfort that heals every wound, and a guidance that leads you to eternal success. The examples of past nations are before you — take heed. The admonition is within your reach — embrace it. And the path to Allah is clear — walk it with certainty, for He has made the way easy for those who seek Him with sincerity.

May Allah make us among the muttaqīn, those who benefit from His verses, learn from His examples, and live by His guidance.

📜 Verse 32-36 — An-Nur

And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
But let them who find not [the means for] marriage abstain [from sexual relations] until Allah enriches them from His bounty. And those who seek a contract [for eventual emancipation] from among whom your right hands possess - then make a contract with them if you know there is within them goodness and give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you. And do not compel your slave girls to prostitution, if they desire chastity, to seek [thereby] the temporary interests of worldly life. And if someone should compel them, then indeed, Allah is [to them], after their compulsion, Forgiving and Merciful.
And We have certainly sent down to you distinct verses and examples from those who passed on before you and an admonition for those who fear Allah.
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.
[Such niches are] in mosques which Allah has ordered to be raised and that His name be mentioned therein; exalting Him within them in the morning and the evenings
