Explanation of the Verse:
O you who have truly believed in Allah and His Messenger and who strive to live by His guidance—turn back to your Lord in repentance that is sincere and wholehearted. Let it be a repentance that does not merely touch the tongue but transforms the heart and the actions that follow, so that you do not slip back into disobedience. Such is the repentance that wipes away the stains of sin and opens the door to divine mercy.
If you do so, your Lord—out of His immense kindness and generosity—promises to erase your misdeeds and to admit you into gardens of eternal bliss, beneath which rivers flow freely, a reward that no eye has seen and no heart has imagined. This will be on the Day when Allah will not disgrace His Prophet, nor the believers who stood firm with him. Instead, He will honor them and elevate their ranks. On that Day, their light will run swiftly before them and to their right, guiding their steps across the bridge (the Ṣirāṭ) toward Paradise. As they see the light of the hypocrites being extinguished, they will call out in humility and hope: "Our Lord, perfect our light for us so that we may cross safely, and forgive us our shortcomings. Indeed, You have power over all things—nothing is beyond Your ability."
This verse is a profound call to every believer, reminding us that the door of repentance is always open, no matter how far we have strayed. It reassures us that Allah’s mercy precedes His wrath, and that a single sincere turn toward Him can transform our destiny. The believers’ prayer here teaches us a beautiful lesson: even in the midst of divine favor, we should remain humble, asking Allah to complete our blessings and forgive our flaws, for we are always in need of His grace. Let this inspire you to never despair of Allah’s mercy, and to hasten back to Him with a heart full of hope and love, for He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful, and His power knows no limits.
