Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Al-Munafiqeen (المنافقين): The hypocrites – those who outwardly profess faith but inwardly conceal disbelief.
  • Al-Munafiqat (المنافقات): The female hypocrites – women who share the same trait of concealing disbelief while claiming faith.
  • Al-Kuffar (الكفار): The disbelievers – those who openly reject faith in Allah.
  • Khalideen fiha (خالدين فيها): Abiding eternally in it – dwelling in Hellfire forever, without end.
  • Hiyya hasbuhum (هي حسبهم): It is sufficient for them – meaning the Fire alone is an adequate recompense for their crimes.
  • La'anahum Allah (لعنهُم الله): Allah has cursed them – He has cast them far away from His mercy and grace.
  • Adhabun muqeem (عذاب مقيم): A permanent, enduring punishment – one that never ceases or diminishes.

The Interpretation of the Verse:

In this profound verse, Allah – the Most Just and All-Wise – declares a solemn and irrevocable promise concerning the fate of the hypocrites, both male and female, and the disbelievers who persist in their rejection of the truth. He has decreed for them the Fire of Hell, where they shall remain forever, never to exit and never to find relief. This eternal abode is not merely a punishment; it is described as *sufficient* for them – meaning that no additional torment is needed beyond the Fire itself, for it fully encompasses the justice they deserve as a consequence of their disbelief, their deception, and their war against the truth.

Furthermore, Allah has removed His mercy from them entirely. The word *la'anahum* signifies being cast out from the divine compassion and blessing – a state far more severe than physical punishment, for it represents a complete severance from the love and care of the Creator. And to seal their fate, they are promised a punishment that is *muqeem* – permanent, constant, and unending. It does not pause, it does not weaken, and it offers no respite.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, let this verse serve as a wake-up call to the heart. Allah does not threaten His servants idly; His promises – whether of reward or punishment – are true and certain. The hypocrites are not merely those who lived in the past; hypocrisy is a disease of the heart that can creep into anyone who claims faith but acts against it. So examine your own heart sincerely. Are your words and your deeds aligned? Do you believe in Allah with certainty, and does that belief translate into obedience and sincerity?

The door of repentance is open until the moment of death. Unlike the fate described here for those who persist, Allah’s mercy is vast for those who turn back to Him. Do not let your heart be hardened by sin or your soul be deceived by procrastination. Run to Allah today with a sincere heart, for He accepts those who repent and forgives all sins. The contrast is clear: eternal Fire for the persistent hypocrite and disbeliever, but eternal Paradise for the sincere believer. Choose your path wisely, for the choice you make in this fleeting world will determine your everlasting abode. May Allah guide us all to sincerity and protect us from the traits of hypocrisy.

📜 Verse 66-70 — At-Tawbah

Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after your belief. If We pardon one faction of you - We will punish another faction because they were criminals.
The hypocrite men and hypocrite women are of one another. They enjoin what is wrong and forbid what is right and close their hands. They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten them [accordingly]. Indeed, the hypocrites - it is they who are the defiantly disobedient.
Allah has promised the hypocrite men and hypocrite women and the disbelievers the fire of Hell, wherein they will abide eternally. It is sufficient for them. And Allah has cursed them, and for them is an enduring punishment.
[You disbelievers are] like those before you; they were stronger than you in power and more abundant in wealth and children. They enjoyed their portion [of worldly enjoyment], and you have enjoyed your portion as those before you enjoyed their portion, and you have engaged [in vanities] like that in which they engaged. [It is] those whose deeds have become worthless in this world and in the Hereafter, and it is they who are the losers.
Has there not reached them the news of those before them - the people of Noah and [the tribes of] 'Aad and Thamud and the people of Abraham and the companions of Madyan and the towns overturned? Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. And Allah would never have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.
