Tafsir (Explanation):

When the divorced woman approaches the end of her waiting period ('iddah), the husband faces a decisive moment. At this point, Allah commands him to choose one of two paths — and only these two — with no third option of leaving the matter hanging. He may either take her back in marriage with kindness, treating her fairly, providing for her, and honoring her rights, or he may let her go completely, allowing her 'iddah to expire so she becomes free to marry whom she wishes — also in a fair and respectful manner, without harm or injustice.

Crucially, Allah instructs that this reconciliation or separation must be witnessed by two just, upright men from among the Muslims. The purpose of this witnessing is to protect rights, prevent future disputes, and give the matter a formal, documented character. Then Allah addresses the witnesses themselves: when you are called upon to testify, do so sincerely and purely for the sake of Allah — not out of personal interest, favoritism, or bias. Your testimony is a trust, and its fulfillment is an act of worship.

Allah then states that this guidance is a profound admonition for those who truly believe in Allah and the Last Day. Why? Because the one who believes in the Hereafter knows that every action is witnessed and will be accounted for — so he takes these commands seriously and implements them with sincerity.

Then comes one of the most beautiful and reassuring promises in the entire Qur'an: "And whoever fears Allah — He will make for him a way out." This means that the one who is mindful of Allah, who obeys His commands and avoids His prohibitions — even when it is difficult, even when his desires pull him otherwise — Allah will open doors for him that he never imagined. He will be granted a way out of every tight situation, relief from every distress, and provision from sources he could never have anticipated.

This verse is a divine guarantee: your obedience to Allah is never in vain. When you restrain yourself from injustice, when you uphold justice even at your own expense, when you choose the path of righteousness over personal whims — Allah Himself becomes your protector and provider. He will never abandon you. He will make a way where there seems to be no way.

So, dear believer, let this verse fill your heart with hope and courage. Every act of taqwa — every conscious choice to please Allah — is an investment with a guaranteed return. Allah does not ask you to carry your burdens alone; He promises to be with you, to guide you, and to provide for you from where you least expect. Hold fast to His commands, trust in His promise, and watch how He transforms your difficulties into blessings and your narrow straits into wide-open spaces of mercy and provision.

📜 Verse 1-4 — At-Talaq

O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period and keep count of the waiting period, and fear Allah, your Lord. Do not turn them out of their [husbands'] houses, nor should they [themselves] leave [during that period] unless they are committing a clear immorality. And those are the limits [set by] Allah. And whoever transgresses the limits of Allah has certainly wronged himself. You know not; perhaps Allah will bring about after that a [different] matter.
And when they have [nearly] fulfilled their term, either retain them according to acceptable terms or part with them according to acceptable terms. And bring to witness two just men from among you and establish the testimony for [the acceptance of] Allah. That is instructed to whoever should believe in Allah and the Last day. And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out
And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.
And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women - if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated. And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth. And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease.
