- An yankihna azwajahunna: From marrying their (former) husbands.

Tafsir (Explanation):
O believers, when you divorce your wives with a revocable or irrevocable divorce that is less than three (i.e., one or two divorces), and their waiting period (`iddah`) has come to an end without reconciliation, then do not — O guardians and family members — stand in their way or pressure them against returning to their former husbands in a new marriage contract. If both the woman and her ex-husband willingly agree to remarry each other on fair and lawful terms — with a proper dowry and legitimate contract — then you have no right to block that union out of tribal pride, personal grudges, or worldly motives.
This command is a profound admonition directed at those who truly believe in Allah and the Last Day — because such believers know that Allah's guidance always leads to what is best, even when it contradicts their personal desires. By allowing the woman her freedom of choice and by not obstructing a lawful marriage, you achieve something far greater: your hearts become purer, your honor remains untarnished, and your community is protected from hypocrisy, resentment, and secret transgressions. This path is more virtuous for you in this life and more rewarding in the Hereafter.
And Allah — in His infinite wisdom — knows what lies within every heart: the genuine affection between the spouses, the hidden intentions of the guardians, and the outcomes of every decision. You, on the other hand, only see the surface and cannot grasp the full picture. So trust Allah's judgment over your own, and let go of any obstruction that contradicts His command.
Da'wah Reflection:
This verse is a beautiful testament to Islam's care for women's dignity and autonomy. Even in the delicate matter of divorce and remarriage, Allah elevates the woman's right to choose her life partner — free from coercion or familial oppression. It teaches us that guardianship in Islam is a responsibility, not a tool of control. When we align our will with Allah's commands, we unlock blessings we never imagined. Let this be a reminder: true honor lies not in forcing others to obey us, but in submitting ourselves to Allah's perfect wisdom. And whoever embraces this divine guidance will find peace in this world and salvation in the next — for Allah knows, and we do not.
